Spawn below base - How to 'fix' it?
Here is the thing. I usually place my bases one 'wall' above the ground. Both by base computer and portal teleporter are far from walls and other objects. (Because I read it could 'bug' the spawn of your character if its close to objects or walls). Tried changing them in other places, nothing. I am always spawning below my base.

After googling again, it seems the game understand that my character is 'rendering' before my base. But... well... I don't know what to do, honestly. I just want to my character to spawn where it should be.

Any ideas? Thanks...

Do you fall through the floor as the base is rendering?
remid0d0s0 Oct 3, 2022 @ 11:31am
This almost killed me in PD a couple of times, when my character spawned under the floor of my base ... outdoors ... falling and sliding ... in an extreme storm ... toward a cliff.

I don't know why the character can't be frozen in space a bit at least until the world nearby has completely popped in.
Although I like to build bases one or two levels up from the ground, sometimes at startup I fall through the floor. So on some bases I have moved the base teleporter to ground level, and if weather on the planet is an issue, I build a structure around the base teleporter with easy access to the outside and the rest of the base. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2870946021

If i put the portal in a cuboid room and then put a solid cube under it, it usually wont' spawn me underneath
also this never seems to happen with portals placed in a pre-fab

Yes

Exatcly, it could 'float' a bit, like when teleporting to the freighter. I wouldnt mind. Spawning under the floor is not cool.

I am trying my best to avoid doing that because I really dont want to spawn on the ground level. But if all fails, I wont have much choice. It will better than what its going on now.

I am going to give it a try.

I will write some feedback later on. Thank you all so far.

Well, I don't build on the ground, so this is a somewhat more urgent concern of mine. Case in point:

Where's the TP in this floating pyramid? It's located on a floor placed one or two walls higher than the base computer, which is another floor or two above the actual base floor. So, if you attempt to warp in and the base doesn't load on you... you've got a 3-4 wall drop before you reach a failsafe floor. Somehow miss that and it's a long, long way down to the portal I built over.

This setup has thus far been the most accurate of my low orbit bases in regard to warp ins. Even if it hangs a bit, you still end up inside of the base. I've had a few others where the Acme corporation owes me a refund.

I can confirm that works. Also, I'll patch up existing bases with the cube floor tile and that also prevents falling through during rendering.

Yes, admittedly it was a workaround that I didn't really want to do, but I got tired of falling through the floor more often than not at that base. I have some bases on paradise planets and I put all the base teleporters on the ground as part of the base design there.

Comrado, are you a Goa'uld ?! That's a Goa'uld ship.

Interesting! Going to give a try myself once I am able to play again (in a few hours) .

It was worse a while ago, but it still happens. My current habit is to place one tile directly on the floor and put the teleporter there, then I build the rest of the base a bit higher.

It's my Stargate glitchbuilt tribute. Was all kinds of fun to do.

Went back and measured:
1. TP on an alloyed floor.
2. two walls worth of empty space.
3. An alloy ramp I forgot I built as a back staircase.
4. Finally, the actual base floor.

This means that if you warp into my base, you've got at least three chances to land before you hit terminal velocity. That'd be my tip to you, make the teleporter on a higher level. When I first did a low orbit build, the TP was on the ground floor. I fell through that more than I'd like to admit.

That's my default design:

I agree something changed with a recent update to make this rendering issue not as bad.

Not pretty but fixes it reliably:

On this base I always materialize on the landing pad:

On my main base I also always come out on the landing pad. Most of the time it's when the landing pad is on a floor which is connected somehow to the floor where the teleporter is on. On good weather planets I totally prefer this solution to falling through the floor :)

Oh man..love stargate series..including the atlantis spinoff. Really liked watching them. I used to watch the early ones after high school while doing homework.

When designing a new base, I always plan to put the portal on solid ground - makes it even trickier to find 'just the right site' but more satisfying when you solve it.
