Easy Tritium & Salvaged Frigate Modules?
There's gotta be a better way than shooting meteors and freighter containers and hoping you get them right? Am I just lazy?

I mean like what sort of systems can I buy tritium in?

Every system will have a pilot or 3 that sells tritium. It's kinda random. Just stay at the space station and talk to EVERY pilot and buy up all the tritium and dihydro jelly.

Once you have 30 frigates, you will use a TON of both products for mission fuel.
For salvaged frigate module, you can go to an outlaw system and accept a frigate raid bounty. You can usually have 15+ cargo pods spawn on your target, shoot all of them for a steady income of said module. The best thing about this is: shooting cargo pods but not escort ships gives zero penalty to standings! You raid, get paid, get to keep all the loot, and leave the scene as if it never happened.
If such bounties are not on the list, do some delivery or pirate hunt bounties (both will not decrease standing) to roll for new mission.

cargo pods are the smaller ones around the system freighters yeah? I actually do get standing penalties.
Also, there are 2 trade terminals per normal space station (the other one is in the room next to multi-tool merchant), and you can have a terminal on your freighter. All 3 terminals are not exactly the same so you could check all 3 for better chance of Tritium listing. Aside from that, random pilots can sell Tritium too, and that is actually your main source if the station terminals do not have that available.

No, not the pods around freighters. In the bounty I mentioned, there will be no pods around, but pods ON the capital ship. They will likely be marked by cylindrical shape and a different color. Shooting those does not decrease standing. Destroying escort ships still penalize you though.
Also I believe if you attack freighters that are not generated as a bounty target you still get standing penalty.

ahh ok. i remember i was able to destroy the smaller pods without consequences pre-outlaws
Regarding the freighter salvage modules: I have found them on derelict freighter missions, sometimes more than one per mission. I have also been collecting them by running freighter fleet missions with my frigates pretty consistently for several weeks. As somebody said earlier in this thread, the industrial missions sometimes bring them, but one of my balanced missions brought one yesterday. After maxing out my S-class freighter, I have been saving the salvage frigate modules as they come in. I'm wondering if they will be useful for some future update to NMS. If not, I may give away a few at the Anomaly. I'm not running any mods.

Anecdotally, I've spent about 3 hours out of my total play time actively trying to find Frigate salvage modules and have found 4 - two from two abandoned freighters (the only two I've ever done), one from a frigate mission, and one from a crashed freighter (like the 8th one I've explored), so I can't really agree that they're hard to find.

3 hours for 4 SFMs sounds about right post-Outlaws. However, I remember when I could find 5 SFMs in 15 mins which makes this new rate hard to swallow.
It really does.

If the purpose of my new survival mode save wasn't to have it remain pristine, I would have used the save editor to add them. I've definitely put in what I feel is a fair amount of time to find them (couple hours).

Floating around reading all the labels on freighters isn't exactly what I enjoy doing with my time. Shoot'em all and see what I get later is my usual approach, but then I have to empty the inventory often. While I only have 100mil Units, I don't really need to buy anything, so I can just delete stuff and carry on shooting things. But... It's kinda boring and I'd rather do other things.

So, I will keep sending out those frigates on missions and visiting my freighter in yellow star systems. Maybe 10-15 minutes shooting some freighters as I pass by some, but not going to grind it and burn out on the game.
Do these upgrade modules ever come as rewards from regular missions from space stations ? (not the anomaly).
Pirate stations have missions for raiding freighter fleets, so one can combine these missions with chance for loot too.

Craftable Salvaged Frigate Module - Cargo Bulkhead - Storage Augmentation - Repair Kits - Multi-tool Expansion Slot - ExoSuit Expansion Unit

There also a
Craftable Upgrade Mods

They need to be merged though
yeah i'm thinking about it and i'm wondering why this can't be an real ingame feature. I take it I can't just use a mod manager for installing?

Mods in NMS are pak files you just drop in the MODS folder and are enable by just putting a ENABLEMODS.TXT in the parent folder. These pak files contain data that overwrite the one from the game. If more pak overwrite the same, the last one wins.
They are ordered in a sort of HG alphabetical order, you can manipulate it by changing the first letters of the pak's name, for example.

If you use a few mods that don't modify the same things, you can just drop all of them in the folder and you should good to go, otherwise there are tools to check conflict and, for mod provided with the LUA script, that allow you to recompile (if a new update to the game breaks them) and even merge more mods together, to get all the features (like the two I posted above).

Get the big lasers like the golden vector has to mine tritium, for salvaged modules I get them from freighter missions and at the anomaly I don't like looking into cargo pods.
freighter missions? like the salvage missions?

You can get them from your fleet expeditions and from the missing freighter missions that you buy for 5 millions in stations or you get 1 free per week at the anomaly.
Desolate freighters and frigate expedition missions are both excellent sources of salvaged modules. Crashed freighters and sunken freighters are also work looking for, but they have a lower rate of producing modules since you're limited to only six containers.
