Which windows version and which GPU/Version do you have ?
CPU: i5 6600k
RAM: 16GB
GPU: GTX 970 (asus strix)
Running on Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit
I quit playing unfortunately. Something in my rig causes a problem for this particular game. Although I easily meet the requirements and can play way heavier games, it just doesn't run well for me. I'll try again in a few years when I build a new PC
EDIT: I upgraded my rig since the last time I posted here (mainly GPU), but even with my upgrades, it doesn't run for me (30 to 100 FPS back to 40 in a matter of seconds)
Maybe it's not the hardware's fault.Example. I played Hogwarts without stutters. And other demanding games. And here in this No Mans Sky game, trying to run ends up stuttering. I look around and the picture freezes. None of the settings work well. Optimization is a word the developers didn't use when creating this game. Example. Epic Fortnite huge maps where there is a battle with hundreds of monsters and a huge amount of special effects. Ultra settings. The whole game runs smoothly without stutters. You fly, you run, you jump and the picture is fluid and smooth like sturbucks coffee.
My previous system was not too different from yours (i5-2400, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1060 6GB), and it stuttered a lot in NMS while no other games stuttered for me. The only thing that helped reduce stutters at that time was the below guide. As a side note, a couple of months ago, I upgraded to a i5-11400 (kept same GTX 1060), all NMS stutters were gone and I no longer needed to use the below guide. So, it was my i5-2400 that was not liking NMS.

However with my i5-11400 system, I've been playing The Knowledge Seeker's Portal Challenge https://steamcommunity.com/app/275850/discussions/0/3801650561772034313/ ,and I've noticed frame rate slowdowns when I "C" scan, but only after 70-80 minutes of game play. Initially, I notice fps dropping to low 30's from my usual 50-60 fps during the period that C scan icons are displayed (fps recover to normal after C scan icons time out). Then after an hour or so more gameplay, C scan slows my fps even further to low 20's along with GPU usage going down to 70-80% from 100% during the fps slowdowns.
Being that this is Portal challenge gameplay, this is all on foot and no teleporting while heading generally in one direction toward the Portal destination. So, these fps slowdowns might not be related to yours. So far, I haven't tried anything other than a game restart to fix the slowdowns. I plan to try tabbing out/in and maybe the above stutter fix guide.
