How do I start coop game with a friend?
Hello guys, is it hard to start coop game with a friend? Im comming back to the game after I think 2 years of break and I got my friend a copy of it as well. So I want to start playing with her but I dont know how this start would look like.

Are we going to be starting on the same planet next to eachother? We are talking about fresh start. And whenever we would like to continue our game after say a day or two how does it work? She joins my game and spawns in my base or what? Please if You can enlighten me on this topic so I know what to expect :)

there is no true co-op, you will not start on the same planet or even in the same system. the best you can do is to play the tutorial/storyline until you can summon the anomaly- at that point you can join eachother in a group, and when leaving the anomaly choose to go to one or the other's system.

This is not true. I play coop with my wife, and we've played since the start.

- You will both spawn in the same system.
- You both have your own local saves, so you can still play separately
- Whenever someone joins your game, they will spawn in the same system as you, regardless of where they were before.

When you launch the game, select "Host Multiplayer" and host a session that way.

Lots of bugs with base building and quest progression. Best to play initial part of the game solo then join up and explore together after you are both established.

Same system doesnt necessairly means same planet yes? So assuming we would start off like that how long would it take until we can actually see each other and play together?

back when my husband i played, there was no such thing as a host option. you could only start a regular game and then be joined, which you then had to navigate to eachother from, it didn't relocate you automatically. dunno when that changed.

np ^^ since the host option was added i don't know how close it will put you to eachother, but it shouldn't take too long to get your ships up and running and find eachother if like flappers said it puts you in the same system. (and yes system and planet are different, each solar system has 1 or more different planets)

My friend and his girlfriend started new saves together in multiplayer a few weeks ago. They both spawned on the same planet, but separately. After going through the business of fixing the scanner and finding their ships, both of their ships were right next to each other.
