[Expedition 3] Planetary outpost and hill
Hi,

I might be dump but I have a lot of difficulty to find the planetary outpost. I searched a lot and mostly found factory, transmission and some other building.

Is there a way to find it and no I don't have the economy scanner.

Also, do you guys have a hint on how to do those 2 steps.

The Hills Are Alive – Summit a mountain of at least 625 units.
Rocketman – Spend 30 continuous seconds airborne.

Thanks in advance.

If we are all wandering on the same planet, I achieved that step with a sharp peak at -31.40/+173.71.

Use the beacon and it should give you a trade center. That is what you need for planetary outpost.
Best tip on rocketman was to use your terrain tool to make a ledge part way up a steep cliff and just jetpack up to it and keep holding position until you get the milestone.

Trade center, specifically, counts for planetary outpost. Any exocraft you can make can scan for a trade center.

Hills have eyes is easy, just pick a tall peak near you and go to the top.

For rocketman, dig a tunnel into the side of a hill and then dig straight up a bit. If you jetpack upwards into a vertical tunnel against the ceiling, it will count towards the timer and not drain your pack since you are so close to the walls.

There's some very narrow spike hills that are quite tall on the expedition starter planet. Full life support and jetting up one can get you both achievements pretty easily.

Perhaps the cheesiest way to get Rocketman is to planetfall from your frigate. As for the "The Hills Are Alive" there are a couple of planets in the starter system with rather high mountains in the 600s. Just find one and jetpack the remaining height if it's not quite high enough. The milestone doesn't care if you're actually standing or flying just that you reach the specified height.

The game gave me trade center yesterday, I hop back in and nowhere to be seen.

Beacon only gave me minor outpost which was 12 hours away. It has to be a trading outpost (the one with 7 landing pads). Once I got my ship flying, I landed on 5-6 different outposts, and they didn't count. Then I flew to another planet and easily found a trading post and the abandoned outpost with the larval cores was within sight of the trading post.

"Trading outpost" with "symmetrical" landing pad layout (2/3/2) is not a "Planetary Outpost"

Planetary outposts have randomized asymmetrical landing pads, along side a MASSIVE structure and lots more things you can do there.

Either counts for the milestone by the way. Mine triggered when I entered the roofed portion of a normal trading post on my way to the trade terminal.

Problem with the trade outposts is that the scanner will only detect it once, if you then scan for something else or something overrides it, it will not detect it again despite it not being visible to you in any way.

I found a colossal archive and it did not count. No maps, or scanners of any kind will locate a trading post. And I have searched for two solid days scanning everywhere. Nothing ever shows up. Do these people even test these crappy missions?

That is indeed very odd since I know at least one person who got the milestone when he entered the first Rendezvous site. Maybe the milestone has to be the currently active quest when you enter the site for the milestone to trigger? I'm not sure.

Thanks a lot everyone for your advice.

I really appreciate.

I keep scanning for trade outposts but it keeps saying it can't find any :(. I try finding other buildings, going to them and scanning for a trade centre in hopes one is now in range. Same issues, it can't find any :(.

Rocletman you just fly up inside your base. You will hit the wall and stop using backpack, and the ceiling will keep you from flying anywhere.
