Only one storage container per base?

There are 10 storage containers in all, numbered 0-9.
Each has 20 slots for inventory. The others have to be unlocked by spending salvaged data at the space anomaly.

Note that your bases share the these containers, so anything you put in container 0 on base A can be accessed in container 0 on base B.

Pro tip, the storage containers work easiest double stacked in cuboid rooms. Here is an example.

Which is VERY handy when one gets themselves a freighter.

There's a mission that unlock all of it no need to spend salvaged data.

Cool base! But how can they be stacked when only one is allowed or is it the 0-9 thing the first commenter described?

So 10 containers, each has 20 slots, so they're the same but I can only have 1 of each? That's very strange? Why did the devs do that? It's my base if I want a thousand containers I should be able to make them.

It's to do with the size of your save file and the stability of the game, it has to keep track of all that inventory, plus your suit, your ships and your exocraft. Earlier builds had a lot of issues with save files getting too large for the game to handle correctly, it's the reason for a lot of the limitations like 6 ships and 3 multi-tools.

Also you can have more than one of each, if you build, say, container 2 at another base it'll have the same inventory in it at both bases. They're like the item boxes in Resident Evil.

You have to get the BPs for 0 thru 9. I usually stack the lower section 0 to 4 and the upper 5 to 9. I put my farm crops in 0 and the crafting stuff in 5 just above it.
2 is Odds and Ends 6 is Gases
3 is Metals 7 is crafting rocks
4 is nutrition 8 is water stuff
5 never use, 9 never use

I name them so it is easier in the freighter. You only have to name them once...every other instance you make will show the name.

Edit: The freighter with a matter beam is a game changer. If it is in-system, just pick up an item from suit or other inventory, click on the freighter inventory and use E to scroll to the storage container you want and place the item in. You can also pull from the storage containers in the same manner. Use C to half the amount until you get enough of what you need. I just any excess back when I am done with my problem.

Having a maxed out backpack and cargo inventory, 6 maxed out ship inventories, 10 storage containers, a maxed out freighter and 6 exocraft storage. That is more space than most will ever need.

Provided you have some nav data and the correct warp drives and teleporters installed you can summon most of that storage to you on any planet in any system at any time.

There is nothing stopping you making 1000 containers in your base, you'll just have a bunch of duplicates for no real reason. The 0-9 containers are just a fraction of the storage space that's available to you in the game.
