my kingdom for a korvax casing
i should've hoarded some of the gift items, but i didn't, cuz i figured that was all they were good for. now i need one to hatch my living ship, and i can't find one anywhere. settlements, space stations, ship captains, random crates... spent hours looking with no luck. at this point i think my best bet is to just camp in the nexus and beg for someone to trade me for one. (tho i have no idea how to trade with players)

Thats funny . I had the same problem . A dime a dozen till you need one . I finally got one off of a captain of a ship at a space station in a Korvax galaxy

spent at least half an hour at a station trying before i gave up and made this post. then immediately after i found on in a box on a random planet.

If you visit a Korvax system go to the space station or the trade post you should eb able to buy one right from one of the traders that land.
if not when at the space station ask. if someone has one they are more than happy to gift.

Go to your freighter or base, wherever you call home. Build mode, tech, storage. Build some of the green containers. Search them. Profit.

I too was spending some time trying to find one to buy and hitting a few random supply drops on planet and, yeah, so not worth the effort. I built I think 18 of the containers and ended up with 3 casings, plus all the other goodies to store or sell.

I've for some reason just taken it as habit to carry one stack of each race relics in my cargo inventory. Saved the trouble of finding one for Quest when I reached that step.

The one reliable way to get them that I have seen so far is to pulse drive until you get a random trader encounter. Traders always have five of the gift items.

An even better option if you have a freighter is to trade with ships that land on it. I think (though I might be remembering wrong) that the traders on there also have them. If this is the case, then it is an even better way than pulse driving. If not, RIP

I do the same, very helpful during events with finding monolith with its 3 knowledge stones.

Two words: Derelict Freighters. They will crowd your inventory with these things, and usually you get 7 casings by the time you turn in the logs.

back when i posted this derelict freighters weren't a thing yet.

Green rectangular boxes found all over the place, but it’s pretty random what kind of purple item you get. Just grab those when you see them in the future and always try and hang on to a couple of each
