quicksilver companion doesn't sell void egg
So I've heard from at least 3 different sources now that the void egg is purchasable from the quicksilver companion for 3200 qs. Mine doesn't sell it, he only has some cosmetic items.

Is this a bug?

Having the same issue here. No signs of a void egg being obtainable there. I've looked through several times..

What do you mean it showed up over the weekend? It appeared in the quicksilver shop with no warning? I thought it unlocked from a community goal tier...

My game is most definitely up to date, but my quicksilver companion only sells a few items, the void egg not among them.

Ok, I think I figured out what's going on. Normally in-game I'm not connected to "discovery services" or whatever because I'm on a VPN and they evidently block an IP. Being in software myself, I know how things work and that they probably get a list of IP's from some security company that they block, so even though it's kind of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing to do, not sure how much I was willing to blame Hello Games for that (most game companies seem to block most VPN servers).

Anyway, I just disconnected and got back on from my home IP and was able to connect to "discovery services" and lo and behold the quicksilver companion has a ♥♥♥♥-ton of items that weren't listed before.

Locking real gameplay items such as the void egg behind always-online DRM crap is definitely not cool. Steam itself should be more than enough DRM for anyone.

Not quite sure if this is deliberate, but Hello Games should make this right and ensure that the void egg is always available offline, either through the quicksilver companion, or somewhere just as accessible.

If it helps in the future, you can get a mod that enable those items without you having to contact the server.

Oh that explains it... I've been in offline mode.. I didn't realize it was that tied to the online services

you need to buy the egg from the quicksilver vendor. then use the pulse drive until you have an encounter. the egg will then show you a destination system, warp there, find the planet it wants (for me its been an anomaly type) then go to the coordinates specified. In one game I found an alien artifact and the mission continued. in another game I found a transmission tower and the mission seems bugged at that point.

However, the coordinates are only an approximation. once you get to that point start looking for alien artifacts. when I found one, the target coordinates shifted slightly and I found a second alien artifact. that artifact completed the mission.

Fix for Windows 7:

- Make sure you installed Windows update KB3140245
- Run "Easy fix" from this page ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3140245/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-default-secure-protocols-in-wi#easy ) "

it seems to be an issue with DRM "discovery services" and TLS protocols. The easy fix changed the registry to recognize the updated TLS versions. Now all the store items and community events are synching properly. Thanks for the fix!
