The hoopla going on at the moment is because in multiplayer, when you join anothers game you automatically join their party.
So in short, no, singleplayer is not affected at all. If by some miracle someone stumbles upon your base they can't touch it, and terraforming edits are on their end only not yours.
Beyond that, people can only edit your primary base in multiplayer which iirc is the one you upload. So if you upload a base computer with nothing in it as your primary one, your real one can't be touched either. I'm not 100% sure if thats exactly how it works on PC though, it is from what i've read here and on reddit.
If you have network play turned off, but upload your base, have base sharing enabled, etc. then: they can see your base in THEIR session if they come across it. But YOUR saves are client-side/local to your system, and you have network play disabled, so you don't see those effects (if any are even possible without them being in your party) unless you have network play enabled and they're in your session/party.
If you have network play turned on: yes, if they join your game randomly or you invite them. If you have a save from before they make changes, reloading it eliminates the changes in your game, as saves are client-side/local to your system. If you save your game after they make changes, they become permanent for you as well.
have you tried playing around with the primary base options? im curious how robust that is in terms of making a fake primary base thats editable by everyone, so they can't touch your real base.
