My base keeps filling up with terrain.
It just keeps doing it. ITS IN THE INSIDE OF THE BASE. What do?

Did you make your base underground?

No, I built it just on the surface so this shouldn't be a problem. It happened after a long journey in an exocraft.

Yeah mine was built on a very gradual slope and the dirt refills the wooden floors, Seems to be something to keep in mind. Hopefully it won't happen when I move to modular rooms and hallways.

I'm using modular rooms and hallways and I'm having this problem as well.

Good to know, I'll find some dead flat terrain for the the next base.

Stop building on the ground. Even flat ground. The game auto levels terrain and removes grass rocks trees etc all of which will respawn inside the base. The best thing to do is elevate it. Use walls to place a floor off the ground and use that as your first level. You can use supports or other methods to get modular rooms off the ground.

A pain in the ass but it is what it is. There is no fix at all. Nothing will change this as the game does not save changes to terrain. That is until the devs change this (assuming the ever will).

It is possible to clear the terrain inside your base, from outside your base, but its a PITA, Have just come back to parts of my base buried due to the hillside encroaching.

Upload your base. Its the only way terrain edit data gets saved.

actually thought they had fixed this because none of my 6 bases have any clipping or terrain issues inside

thank you for this info

It's a quirk of how the game is saved. People have found that only the last 5000 terrain edits anywhere in the Universe are saved and once this limit is reached older terrain will be restored to default or bases will no longer auto excavate.

Considereing how often the game wants you to use the terrain manipulator you'll get that limit eventually without trying.

What I don't understand is why they can't have the base auto-excavate when it's loaded in as you get closer same as if you just placed it down. That way there is no need to save the actual terrain state as it's done on the fly (maybe a performance issue like when too many plants sprout and can crash the game).

Uploaded the bases and it doesn't help at all
