Echoing "clapping" noise?
I've been hearing this occasionally and I haven't been able to figure out what it is. Its a loud "clapping" noise that echoes as if someone is walking down a concrete hallway clapping loudly. There isn't anything special going on usually when it happens, but I'd like to know where its coming from.

I've been hearing that, too, and it has been driving me crazy. It's so random. I seem to hear it more on my viridescent planet than the others. Whatever it is has been introduced with the Abyss update, because I have never heard it before.

I think it's the sound of rain hitting your starship, but yeah it plays at random times even when you're nowhere near your ship.

So yep, add yet another bug to the list of early access bugs to fix.

O right, the game's (allegedly) not in early access, my bad. :steamfacepalm:

Except it sounds nothing like rain... it seems more like something is walking around in a cave, but there aren't any caves around when I hear it.

I just imagine it's some caveman or alien slapping a rock on a radio, which you then hear in your suits radio. That's what it sounds like to me.
Cougarific Nov 1, 2018 @ 3:10pm
I was able to make it go away by getting in my spaceship which is why I think it has something to do with a sound effect tied to the ship.

That would make me think it was more of an effect on the planet than anything to do with the ship since the ship muffles everything that happens on the planet.
Cougarific Nov 1, 2018 @ 3:16pm
For me, it was raining on the planet and I first heard the sound when I got in the ship on the planet, then it persisted up in space and after landing on my freighter. It only went away when I got back in the ship on the freighter.

Shouldn't be a hard bug to nail down and squash. Pretty freaking annoying sound, tho.

Hi Cougarific.
NMS is not in any kind of EA, so why you came up with that notion beats me, as to early access bugs, every game out there has bugs, some are albeit worse than others but still it is to be expected, games have bugs, personally i havent come across any that have been what you would call or define as "Game Breaking" for me.

However, i have read on these forums that a couple of people have been having some major issues, ironically, later down their posts they then state they have used MODS, then they wonder why the games borked out on them, i have also read about people who havent used any mods having issues of game breaking bug's, but, maybe that could be down to the PC the person is using,

I run NMS on a P.C. i built from the ground up about 4-5 years ago, its played every game i own no problem, most at around about 50-60fps, its the same with NMS, id say i get between 45-60fps on this game, when i get slow downs which is about 4-5 hour later, well that is when i stop the game save out and restart

I5 3570K @3.4GHz
20GB RAM
2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti O.C. Edition

Simply, i am not saying the game has not got it's fair share of those bugs but not all bugs are because of the game or the devs messing up.
Peace Out

I've heard that "clapping" (or to me, firecracker going off) sound several times too, after Abyss update. In my case, I keep hearing it when I shoot at creatures - and even a sentinel walker - with my boltcaster (upgraded with 4 S-class modules). Not every time, though; random occurrences.

Plus, once I also heard it when a predator creature was eating a dead prey.

You contradict yourself. But firstly. He was being sarcastic. Google sarcasm. It may help you interpret posts in the future.

You blame Mods and other's PC's for their problems. And then mention that you have no problem with yours that you built. You've experienced bugs, real ones, just like everyone else. You simply cannot play this game without incurring bugs. You don't admit it because you feel obligated, no, you simply want to tow the line. You're one of many that wear blinders around here, or are just incapable of looking past yourselves. Same old song and dance everytime someone mentions a bug. Narcist is what you people are.

Look at me! No bugs. And I have over 2,000,000,000 hours in the game. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Hi Swagg,
Where do I contradict myself, I get sarcasm, however it's not easy to read in texts, but yeah you take what you want from it, as to the bugs, I haven't experienced none of the "game breaking" bugs you read about on the forums, at least if you'd have read my post you would see I said I have had a few crashs, so I still stand by what I have said, game breaking bugs, no, I haven't had any, as to the and I'll quote it for you, "Minor" bugs I have encountered I have reported to zendesk.

Your other rant about being a narcissist, LOL what a whopper, hahaha narcissist, that's a good un, I've never been a narcissist in my life, you do realise what a narcissist actually is don't you.

As to the thousands of hour's, I wish I could doss around all day playing that long to start with, I've got over about a 400 hours, how is that into the 1000 mark, I will get to that 1000 hours though, "in my own time".

The game will obviously run differently for different combinations of systems, that's the reason I posted my specs, I ain't gonna bullskat it about my pc and make out I've got better than what I have said, it's mid end by today's standards, but, it's my own and it has played everything I have thrown at it.

Either way, whatever floats your boat I suppose.
Peace Out

Edit:
Cougarific, I did not realise you was being sarcastic, afterall, sarcasm is something you mainly hear and not get in text's, I'm terrible at spotting it online let alone in the real world, so sorry in that regard, I still stand by what I said though about the bugs, even if Swagg here didn't get what I was saying in my post.

i hear something that sounds like a clicking / dripping , popping noise in my freighter if i load the game from there, it follows me from the freighter to the space station but as soon as i warp or teleport it goes away. its weird

so, since today i can hear that sounds too! It's like someone claps two wood bars in a small garage together again and again. I tried to find out from what this is coming but... i stand here in the wilderness on the beach watching the sunset.. no artifical instalations here yet... really weird *g* and i guess if it won't stop in 15minutes or so i get insane because it is loud. ouh man hehe
