1440p
OpenGL about 50 fps
Vulkan about exactly the same 50 fps
I have actually expected some performance gain kinda dissapointed.
Planetside I'd get about 30fps, with some stuttering, could get it up to 40-50 with harsh tweaking. A square room base would drop it to mid 20's. Getting close to a station would drop me to 18-24fps, and coming in to dock would drop to about 20. Low or High, settings didn't matter.
WITH VULKAN:
Everything stays at 60fps, which is what I have my cap set to in my video card control panel. It didn't budge. Planet ran perfect, flying to a station was perfect, docking was perfect, not a hitch in sight. Maxed settings
Ryzen 5 2600, RX580 8GB
Time to finally enjoy NMS
what are you running. for an AMD Graphics card?
make sure you have vsync turned off.
Vega 56
1440p
Vulkan 80-100 fps
OpenGL was 30-45 1440
Huge improvement for me.
experimental has it. Prod does not yet have the update.
I guess I might as well uninstall it again then.
Too bad, really, I was almost at a point where I thought I could actually play this.
HD 7870, which ironically is the card listed on the requirements on the store page.
30 fps on foot on planets, horrible freezes all the time, drops to 20-something every 30 seconds.
running on an i5 5ghz and a RX580 [cld.pt]
Hopefully their future titles will run on this low level API or the AMD users are screwed
I get about 80-110 (max settings always, why wouldn't you do that???) on my Nvidia gpu with the current version. The experimental is in the process of being downloaded.
I'm fairly new to Vulkan, and I'm surprised to see such a significant reduction in CPU usage across all hardware. It has piqued my interest enough to try this out.
Edit: Tested. Basically no difference. Same stutters, same framerate. I guess this is a win for the kids whose single parents only buy the cheapest parts they can afford.
Lower your resolution, your GPU (I have the same) is bottlenecked at that resolution.
