Are specialists still needed ?
Becouse of the new tech trees are those stupid specialists still needed ? I always hated them so much, in a "sandbox" game having to do quests so you can build a base is stupid. I think that unlocking thing for nanites is way better system so am i correct that you can now unlock EVERYTHING in this agme without having to do any story whatsoever ? Thanks !

OP. no. you still have to do a little of the begin quests. But once you get to anomaly its mostly nanites. as far as i can tell so far, no more specialists. or you could say they don't live with you anymore and you don't have to do their fetch quests.

I thought they were used to make other vehicles, how do we get them now? I cant seem to find any specialist terminals on a new game.

Well that sucks I enjoyed those missions :( I liked them living with me.

So is there any point in crafting the specialist terminals now or should I just save the resources?
Do specialist terminals still exist? I haven't seen them.

That's incorrect. You do still need specialists for certain blueprints such as glass. Also, you don't purchase base parts with nanites, but rather with a new currency which you acquire by exploring. I don't remember the exact name, but you find about two at a time from each resource spread across the planets (I don't remember all the terms and whatnot, but I'm pretty sure there's a tutorial on it once you reach the Nexus, if not before). They can be quite difficult to find to ridiculously easy. It all depends on luck.

Also, specialists are in all modes, or at least they were prior to Beyond. They were even in Next creative, though they weren't required to build most things if I'm not utterly mistaken. But at least in Next creative, it was quite easu to mess up the "creative" aspect of the mode by, say, acquiring some units or nanites.

You get the first terminal through the Artemis questline, which I believe is how it went since those two questlines were introduced.

I don't remember exactly what blueprints each specialist gives, but I wouldn't be surprised if some were still exclusive to them.

Not sure you still need them, for example when i pin formula that uses glass it tells me i can learn the recipe with aid of Overseer but then i reached a man. facility and look at this: https://imgur.com/a/rYfpjz7
so yeah i dont think they are needed anymore

Yeah, the factories. I just found out they had overhauled them earlier today. Wasn't aware of that.

Follow the artemis quest line once you get passed the base building tutorial bit it will ask you to expand and staff your new base. I have just done this bit and have unlocked 2 of the specialists so far (playing on normal)

Incorrect. I was able to produce glass with the portable refinery by burning silica (from terraforming). It wasn't until hours later that I started the specialist quests and received a blueprint for glass which requires frost crystals.
