Currently using 4.11.2 Proton, on Manjaro Linux

Ryzen 2700x
Vega 64
16 GB RAM

Was able to play before BEYOND update, now I can't get past the Load/Start save screen. I have logs of Proton in DEBUG mode for anyone who can decipher the logs.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Yup same issue :(
Just today before beyond release I played it smooth with Proton 4.11-2 with the previous OpenGL version.
The Vulkan version has some severe performance issues on Linux. Which is pretty strange though as Vulkan should improve performance a lot compared to OpenGL. But somebody said that previously on the experimental branch Vulkan was working smooth? Looks like that fix/change didn't make it into the release version.

Also VR doesn't work with Proton. Game crashes shortly after starting, I see shortly a black window which closes.

I hope Hello Games addresses these issues as well, as I'm a No Man's Sky player and supporter since the initial release, bought it on Steam and GoG to show my support and played it smoothly on Linux ever since.

Is the game playable in flatscreen/non-vr mode?
wat is lunix?
Did some testing, found the issue!
Woo!

Here ya go: Go to the game folder > binaries> settings and open "TKGRAPHICSETTINGS.MXML"
Turn TerrainTesolation to Low
Medium may work also work - but High for sure is causing crashing, at least for me.
Good luck, and no problem :D

Should do.
Medium doesn't seem to work, but hey ho.
Glad it works for me, Windows is a pain in the butt.
But yeah what I did was just copy the settings from my windows install and it seemed to work, so I dived into adjusting graphics to narrow down which exact thing was causing it.

Runs way smoother than Windows too.

EDIT: Also just noticed BaseQuality on High seems to be an issue too. Gonna test medium and low (or i accidently screwed up my file)
wat is lunix you all talking about?!

Tried the fix, it worked. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, thank you for this.

Also, the setting was in TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS not TKGAMESETTINGS for anyone seeing this in the future.

No problemo. Only had to endure Windows and be angry that it wasn't working on Linux - it's what prompted me to look into changing graphics. :D
This seems to have fixed my issue, but now the only thing I can't figure out is... how do I make the Upgrade Module popup stop? It says rick-click to "Continue" but no matter how many times I dismiss it, it comes right back :( major annoyance.

Can someone who's successfully loaded in, post their complete TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML, none of the changes I'm making seem to have an effect.

Pretty sure doing that won't work since it sets your GPU in there.
Delete the file, launch the game and it'll make a new one.

Linux is another operating system for PCs. It's like windows or the Mac OS. It's "open source" so it doesn't have the intrusive, bloated features that windows has. I don't know too much about it.

Even if you make a new one, the new one will have it set to high, you're going to manually have to change it to low. Just post it here.
