Lot's of sprains
I seem to be getting a lot more sprains than I did in A19. Like, I get hit twice and suddenly, Sprain. Did they up the chance or am I just getting unlucky?

If the injury was fully healed, then you can probably ignore what I posted as a possible reason.
I can't confirm for sure about sprains, but I am almost certain that after a break (leg) and the use of a splint, the message screen under player effects/conditions explains that further stressing the injury will possibly cause it to take longer to heal, and maybe make it worse (I think - can't remember exact text).

Which actually makes sense, and is pretty detailed for the Pimps to have included that. Feel free to check the same screen if you get another sprain and use a splint. I have never had it happen to me, even when sprinting and jumping around, but then I did not try to push my luck. :steamhappy:

Oh ya, I know that happens, but I rarely get a break. Sprains do the same thing, as in take longer to heal. It was just weird how I healed one, then got another.

Idk, I'm just gonna go with a bit of bad luck mixed with being sloppy

As far as getting sprains over other injuries, I’m willing to think that’s down to luck. In my latest ‘for real’ game with no cheating, I’ve gotten an infection and a laceration so far, but no sprains.

I've noticed it too. I get most status effects more often, in particular, infection and sprains.

I think the more combat you get into the easier it is to notice this. The zombies have more attacks now, and sprint toward you getting more hits than before. They can also strike you while stuck on an obstacle. So, its probably due to getting hit more often. That would increase the chances, as the chance is occurring more often.

The warning thing with sprains has been around for awhile, if you watch the sprain icon in the bottom left youll notice its a timer that is counting down. When you run, or jump, or fall even a bit, you'll here your character moan, or cry out, and you'll see that timer increase. If you continue to run or jump, or fall, that number can raise significantly (9 minutes will become 15 minutes), eventually your sprain will "snap" and the limb will break. I have had untreated breaks kill me because I kept fighting, as each time the timer increases you take small dmg. I have even killed myself upgrading blocks at base when I had a sprained arm. Like if you have music going, and your ambient sound is to low, you wont notice your life bar going down and your thinking your safe at base hitting on some blocks. Even a treated sprain can break, and even a treated break can cause death, if you continue to press it by using the limb...running/jumping if broke leg, hammering/swinging with broke arm.

I've gotten infected... twice now I believe, got an arm sprain and a laceration once, got a sprained leg like 3 times.

Like, there's am ix, but sprained legs seem to be the most common for some reason.

I think that particular thing is more common to you because of the way you play. We all play slightly different. You probably fall a lot. Yaknow, falling can just be coming down a slope too fast.

If you know its strictly from zombie attacks, then its just RNG. I got infected about 5 times in an hr last night. The day before I broke my leg twice. Couple days ago, I just kept getting concussions. It may have something to do with the type of zed your fighting. Certain zeds spawn with certain pois or biomes more often. For instance, maybe the lumberjack has a greater chance to inflict a laceration than say an infection. So, if your in the snow fighting alot of lumberjacks, you would tend to receive alot of lacerations.

I think I'll test this, its got me curious.

Ya its all from fighting, and I'm just hanging out in the Pine forest for the moment of Navezgane. Just found it weird.

From what I'm noticing, it seems I'm getting afflictions just as often as before bu it seems like infection comes around quite a bit more often. The cures are just as easy to get, though so it seems like it's almost routine now to eat honey when returning to base at the end of the day.

There is a book that lets you fall 15 blocks if you got 5k dukes with you.

I think that's The Great Heist series, and pretty sure it only reduces the damage, not negates it. Unless something has changed......

rng is rng, Started my first A20 game last night, day 1 just finished initial quest, see boar, shoot boar with 2 arrows and switch to club boar hits me once time and then I hit him and he dies. I have a sprained arm and am also infected. Welcome back to 7 days to die. lol

It's an interesting point,though.

A sprain is a side effect of taking damage.....an injury.

So if the book from The Great Heist reduces damage, does that have any impact on the chance of getting a sprain ?
I would say no, because you can get a sprain with only a little damage, but then again, it might be random. Probably no way to test that in the game.

I thought the perk simply added a number of blocks to the height you could fall take before taking damage? I could be wrong though. I also could have sworn that the description mentioned needing 5k dukes in your inventory, but looked it up on the wiki and it only says "fall great distances" meaning it changed, or the wiki is very outdated.

That's the same information I was looking at...the wiki is incomplete and could be worded much better for sure.

I thought it only reduced the damage at 15 blocks, but I am the one that might be wrong.
If it totally negates that damage, then it surely takes away the chance of getting a sprain.

But if it reduces it instead, then maybe a sprain is still possible ? Just thinking out loud....

So I just had it happen again. It wasn't sprains this time, but it was an awful lot in a very short span of time. I got one, then, because I had gotten one sprain, I got hit more and then wound up with three other stupid debuffs in rapid succession.

I don't know if this is a bug or if Im just being really, really unlucky, but any time I get hit a few times I tend to get multiple of these things, and its getting really frustrating. Especially because I had a total of 24% Crit resist.

Others have already explained that this is expected behavior.
