Problem with Source2viewer
I read about this program Source2viewer, sounds great, I was on the appropriate website downloaded it and unzipped the .exe but...

...nothing happens: It won't lauch!

Am I the only one with this problem? All SteamVR related stuff is running fine on my Win10/128GB RAM/12GB GPU machine, no problems with Pico nor Quest HMD --- but the Source2Viewer persistently refuses to start operations!

Yes, I downloaded again (and again...) but its always the same: nothing. The Task manager shows also no process.

Some suggestions?

If it's a command line tool you might have to provide it with parameters for it to do anything. This is what it seems to be from a quick googling anyway. So run it in a terminal I guess.

Source 2 Viewer is an open-source tool that lets you browse, extract, and decompile Source 2 assets from VPK archives. It supports all Source 2 projects and provides a command line utility and a .NET library for reading and writing Valve resources.

The command line tool is a separate download, the main download is a GUI tool that should start up directly when you launch it. You might need to install the .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.3 from Microsoft for it to work.

Thanks for the quick reply. Now I have installed the dotnet8 Rectus linked and I downloaded the programs:
- nuget.exe
- source2viewer.exe
- libSkiaSharp.dll
- Decompiler.exe
together in one folder. But: No matter which exe file I start, there is no response, no terminal window, nothing. What am I doing wrong...?

It should just need the Source2Viewer.exe file. Decompiler.exe is the command line tool, you could try running it from the terminal and see if it spits out an error before it closes.

@Rectus:
Strange: when I start a terminal with cmd.exe and then start source2viewer.exe WITHIN the cmd window, the GUI starts and I can use it.

That seems a bit strange to me, but it works that way. Thanks for the tip about the terminal window.

Yeah, that is really strange.
