Valve Index display drivers wont start. Stuck in Microsoft Basic display Adapter

Plugged in my Valve Index. While the VRdisplay displays picture, when I attempt to change the refresh rate to the native 144hz that the display runs natively at my whole PC bluescreens with an IRQL NOT LESS THAN OR EQAL TO error. I have tracked the error to the display driver for the Index where it shows in the device manager as "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". I have tried unplugging and replugging it in as well as looked up to see if the Index has public drivers I could attempt to install on my own but no such luck.

The Event in device manager shows as

Device PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_164E&SUBSYS_7E091462&REV_C2\4&166a15f9&0&0041 had a problem starting.
