SteamVR

SteamVR

My steam vr is so laggy. how do i fix this?
So i downloaded steam vr gorilla tag about a month ago, and every single time i try to play steam vr gorilla tag it is so laggy. I have tried to change things with gorilla tag but nothing has worked. I tried just about everything to fix my gorilla tag lag in steam vr. Now that nothing has worked to fix this issue, i think the problem is steam vr. Before I open gorilla tag when i'm in steam vr home, steam vr home is also laggy just like gorilla tag. The game is literally unplayable. I have already contacted gorilla tag about this but nothing that they told me to do worked. I have followed about 30 tutorials on how to fix this. I freed up space on my laptop, changed a bunch of NVIDIA setting and oculus and steam setting as said in tutorials, but not a thing reduced my lag to the point where i can actually play the game smoothly. I have restarted my router, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and even connected an ethernet cable form my router to my laptop, but of course this didn't work either. What should i do to actually make my game run smoothly?

First thing to do is reduce resolution... a lot, for a test. If that fixes it, weak GPU is the problem, and is the #1 cause of VR lag (too high resolution for the GPU).

Prior confirmed causes of stutter in the forums:
1) Resolution set too high
2) USB congestion from lighting apps like Asus Aura, Corsair iCUE, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, TT RGB Plus

2b) USB congestion from a webcam ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/0/3723945543089828606/ )

3) GPU monitoring apps like Afterburner, Aorus Edge View (once a second one-frame stutter) ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/2/3381662461615185982/?tscn=1662951659 ), also SteamVR's GPU monitoring ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/2/4411920671411791425/?tscn=1719585881 )
3b) disable razer cortex, a gaming "optimization" app ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/0/5371139102170147464/ )

4) NVMe drive stealing bandwidth from the GPU's PCIE bus (here's an archived link to this deleted thread https://web.archive.org/web/20221129043940/https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/11/1815422173043032484/ )
5) PCI-e 4.0 and USB conflict (also causes intermittent tracking loss) (change BIOS to use PCI-e 3.0 protocol)
6) Rift S + open OVR Advanced Settings ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/0/3112519935867753855/ )

8) minimize game desktop window ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/2/3058490685012602825/ ) (win 11/4070ti https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/0/3781373416979903352/ )
9) Windows 11 wrong window focus (try the game window or SteamVR control panel)
10) Wrong OpenXR runtime setting (SteamVR, Oculus, WMR) (oculus example https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/2/6406956248970801032/ )
11) Multiple monitors at different refresh rates (see also #22). Test with just one, at 60. ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/0/6406956248963113090/ )

21) under win 11 update 22H2, disable nvidia overlay, or disable HAGS, or disable windows game mode, or disable core isolation ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PETR3t6StU )

22) Disable Windows' high dpi meddling ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/611660/discussions/0/598514944991853217/ )
