Vive Tracker Dongle Required to be on Cradle?

I recently bought 3 Vive Tracker pucks along each with a dongle and cradle. Is it REQUIRED to have the dongle and cradle together, or am i safe to have a each dongle plugged into a USB hub?

I plug it into my PC
do note if you have usb 3 they may give issues when pluged directly (read something about USB 3 sending out some single or something)
using a hub or the like shuld be fine

You can plug them straight into USB ports. In the past at least they would saturate a USB host if you plug more than two dongles into the same host, so if you can spread them out across host or clusters of USB ports in case you have problems with only getting two Trackers to connect at any one time.
