Can't find IPD display
I've tried to set my IPD via the corresponding knob. It does change the distance of the lenses but there is no visual clue of the current value. I've read in the manual an guides, that the current IPD is shown in the headset while you are turning the knob. But there is nothing shown in the headset. (Just the steam vr background)

It does not display immediatly. Keep turning the nob a small amount back and forth continuously and not rapidly and it will display the number on the HUD screen after a few seconds. You can than use the number displayed to help set the IPD.

One thing I've noticed is that the knob also keeps turning if you go past all the way in. I was turning it trying to adjust and not realizing that nothing was happening. It wasn't until I turned the other direction that I realized it was already at the minimum.

Sometimes it doesn't work. Try restarting Steam, SteamVR or your computer.

So where should it appear? on the monitor in the steamVR dashboard or in the vive heradset itself somewhere in the middle of the world?

Apparently there's a bug in the most recent SteamVR beta which breaks the dashboard (which is responsible for showing IPD I think), switch back to the regular version.

I have the same problem, did you manage to sort this out?

Two days before I received my Vive my friend brought his round to try on my PC and the IPD display was working in his headset. Once my headset turned up, I set it all up and the IPD does not display in the headset when turning the adjustment knob as it did in my friends HMD.

Mechanically it's okay, the lenses move. It just doesn't appear to be reporting the change to the PC (presumably).

I am not using the beta software.

I've just checked my SteamVR system report and the User IPD shows as 0.0606 no matter what the position of the lenses is so I guess it's a hardware problem.

Where did you check that IPD?
The lenses do move, so from the hardware it is working. It's just not shown anywhere.

In the SteamVR popup menu there is an option to "Create System Report". It shows the current User IPD. Mine never changes from 0.0606.

Okay, found it. Nailed the issue down. The ipd changes only very slowly. When I turned the knob very long in the same direction, eventually the display popped up as well. Just widely turning it back and forth multiple times does not work

It will not show unless you have the vive app installed. for me I cannot launch Steam vr with the controllers it never ever works so frustrating.

I have the same issue the IPD figures no longer show. Any solution to this?

Nope, it's never worked on my headset but I've never really been that bothered about it because I have my IPD set to the minimum anyway.
