Valve Index 2.0 Base Station availability
I already have the Valve Index VR kit and have been waiting for the store to have Valve Index 2.0 Base Stations in stock again so that I can purchase 2 more for my system, (I want a set of 4 total).
I really don't want to go on EBay and pay scalpers prices for used ones.

From what I understand, HTC was the parent company and the HTC Vive base station is supposed to be like the same item.
Regardless, After paying a grand for the Vale Index setup, I don't really want to have to mix and match equipment and want a complete Valve Index set.

I mean, didn't Valve Index step away from HTC for a reason?

So any Idea on when Valve Index 2.0 Base Stations will be back in stock to be individually purchased again?

If the HTC one is also a 2.0 version I don't think there is going to be much of a problem mixing and matching as it's the same spec just a different factory making it with maybe a few changes on the inside

I don't think Valve really step away from HTC, they more have open their spec for any maker to use the lighthouse system (like you can sign up and make your own if you have the know-how :) )
Valve just made their own

On the end the tech behind should be the same, and I don't think HTC once are likely to have any HTC only feathers or the like, even that it may be better to ask someone that got one (I so far only got the original HTC Vive with lighthouse 1.0)

A new 2.0 lighthouse is the same product no matter where you get it. I don't think it's a different factory making it. HTC was not the parent company. When Valve invented lighthouse tracking, they partnered with HTC (a smartphone maker at the time) to make all the consumer grade HMD's and controllers they anticipated a need for. I don't know why Valve did the Index on their own... maybe HTC wasn't interested, or perhaps a low VR demand made it a feasible undertaking, or a desire to keep all the profits, or a desire to go to communist China for lower manufacturing costs (HTC is in free, democratic, more expensive Taiwan)

From my understanding after reading some online posts on the subject, the HTC Vive 2.0 Base stations have a shorter power cord. They even go as far as to say the cords are so short that even if mounted right above a wall plugin, the HTC Vive cords will barely reach the roof on an 8-foot ceiling height, let alone be able to move them left or right of directly above the closest outlet in the room. I do know that my Valve Index power cords are easily long enough to allow for convenient mounting pretty much anywhere on a wall with an existing plugin on that wall. I do not own any HTC equipment so I cannot confirm or deny this information. I also would rather get the Valve Index 2.0 at a cost of $149.00 rather than paying $199.99 for the HTC Vive 2.0, (kind of why I was asking if and when Valve Index Base Stations would be available again). As for warranty information, as I said, I already have the Valve Index kit so having to send parts of my setup to different companies, (I am hearing that HTC is horrible on service/support), is going to be inconvenient at best. Either way, I have 2 base stations at this time and have the luxury of being able to wait for Valve to get more in and I was just curious as to when that might happen?
