Other than that, looks great.
The G2 is supposed to have clearer optics, higher resolution, but lower FoV and no Lighthouse tracking. I'd say it's a good headset option for people that prioritize those things, but in my opinion it doesn't invalidate the Index as a viable headset. 🤷♂️
I think the biggest negative for me, would be that it's still a WMR headset, so needs that runtime, it's not a native SteamVR headset. But if that's fine for people, go ahead I guess 😋
Yeah these type of headsets had usually problem with tracking, but on this it works well. Don't know how far it tracks behind your head, but Alyx is supposed to be playable well on that! We will probably hear about that soon, since it is out! Don't know what tracking FOV for controllers has Reverb G2, but Decagear will have 225, so it is not impossible to track behind your head a bit. Same with only 4 cameras.
Also may 2021 wireless HMD - Decagear 1 is coming out from Valve. Has same resolution as Reverb G2 and will probably use same panel. Cost only 450$ and has what looks like wmr controllers with straps. Has 117 FOV! Don't know if horizontal, or diagonal. Reverb G2 has 98 i think - of horizontal FOV, which is lower than diagonal always! Don't know about brightness and color saturation in case of Decagear 1 and performance, Reverb G2 has great performance on 4k, because of compression. Seems like Valve is trying to compete, since their Index is becoming obsolete and is overpriced!
Also i would be interested about performance, there isn't that huge drop in performance on Reverb G2 as you would think. And Index had blurry lenses, it has custom lenses so that's a good thing and should be more vivid than Index. Anyways i won't wait another 5 months to find out and than maybe it won't be even good... Reverb G2 is good enough for me.
Yeah for instance tomb rider won't work on WMR i heard. If that's some games only i don't care. I wanted Reverb G2 for clarity as Index has huge lens reflection and is blurred. Tho you could get index controllers for another 500$ always and it would be same price. But yeah WMR is kinda dead platform, i don't know why they went with WMR, otherwise that headset seems perfect!
So honestly it's kind f pointless to say that XD
About the headset never heard of about it but searching:
https://www.deca.net/decagear/
just calm down :) Most of us have been talking about the g2 for a year.
My guess is they will take the pre order dollars peoples send and run and you will never hear about Decagear ever again
Edit: this is a comparison between 3 of the best for what really counts...(selling your soul excluded)
what you see when you put on your headset
