Getting rid of popup "you'll need a new app to open vrmonitor link"
Hello community,

Since I turned on my computer today, I got that (Windows ?) popup "you'll need a new app to open vrmonitor link"
(Well, in French that's "Vous aurez besoin d'une nouvelle application pour ouvrir ce lien vrmonitor"

The matter is that the "OK" option is greyed out so that popup remains in front even when I play a game ...

So i pinpointed that it could be related to Windows Store and SteamVr.

I cleared Windows Store cache and did some steps in powershell (Like disabling the Development mode) but still got that popup remains ...

Checking SteamVr integrity files didn't help neither.

So I started to follow those post :

https://steamcommunity.com/app/250820/discussions/2/1640917625015598552/

SteamVr is still downloading (Dunno why the estimated time is >2 hours even tho my bandwith is fine as my others download are pretty fast, took me barely 15 min to download Star Wars Squadrons on Origin)

But I don't know why that warning remain even if I uninstalled SteamVr (and the previous steps on powershell with Windows Store)

Any clues how I could disable that popup ? (LIke which process should I kill / end ?)

Thank you by advance

Edit : finished to reinstall SteamVr : that didn't help
I didn't want to reboot the PC as I had pending task which last 10 hours ... but I got sick of that popup so i had to reboot anyway > no more popup but I still wish to know which process I should end to get rid of the popup in case that'd happen again

I also got the dialog problem today (I guess first boot after using Virtual Desktop and SteamVR for the first time).

Using Process Explorer[docs.microsoft.com] as described here[winbuzzer.com] I was able to determine that the dialog process is called "OpenWith.exe" so in case you just want to kill the dialog, you can just kill that process. I just successfully killed it.

I also posted about it here where I saw another discussion about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/k3kjdu/problem_with_steamvr_and_virtual_desktop/

Thanks @Haprog, I'll write it down just in case that popup come back to ... me off.

Dunno why I didn't think about Process Explorer.

Glad to see that I wasn't the only who got that behavior lately :)

Sorry to necro this but you just have to launch it with administrator mode
ok, found a fix. You'll need to ctrl + alt + delete and go to task manager. Find the program called "Pick an app" (or something similar). Just end the task, and it should go away.
