Is it possible to use vr controllers as a gamepad in the game theater
It seems to be possible to use vr controllers in game theater in this image i found while attempting to look up a solution: http://www.roadtovr.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/steamvr-terraria-1.jpg
But I can't find out what to do and whenever I launch a game in game theater my controllers dont show up. I am using a rift s though, does the game theater simply not support this headset?

I can assure you, you can not use the Vive (or Index) controllers in that manner let alone Rift S ones.

Yes, the controllers display in the home home theater environment (or did last time I used it which was a long time ago) but they serve no function beyond accessing the SteamVR interface.

For any desktop games I was playing I had to use an xbox controller.

Vive controllers don't show in the theater any more at least not after a short while after you start it up
Just tested

I think it may be possible however to emulate a controller using a VR controller, but I do not think there is any tool to do that at this time

I've made a tool that emulates a keyboard, if anyone finds C# library to emulate a gamepad it would be possible, but I can't remember finding any last time I checked 😅

That might allow you to do it
