One base station, RED blinking led, (Fault 02), 10009 error.
I have updated the firmware of one of my base stations and headset, now one base station has stopt working. The other one works perfectly.

A red LED blinking constantly and i get a error when i start up my SteamVR. When I open a game the base station is not working correctly and I lose tracking all the time. The error i get is (fault 02) and 10009 on the end.

Anybody know how i can solve this? Can I downgrade in firmware? Or do you know of any other solutions. I have tried to google but i could not find anything.

Thank you for your advise. Ill will try to find a factory restore. The led is defintily not purple, but blinking red. The strange thing is that there is not so much information about this red led. If somebody has some usefull information for me I would love to hear from you!

I now have the same fault 02 on one of my base stations, which was also caused by the same firmware update. Was playing my first game of SBA straight after the update and noticed tracking was failing.

@brambomb: Did you manage to sort it? Is there a firmware fix? Did one of your Lasers also stop working due to the update?

I've contacted support who promptly replied with a basic pre-flight checklist which is mostly unhelpful since I had already cycled thru setup and test everything several times.

Why would a firmware update cause the bottom Laser to stop working?

Eventually I have not sent it back. HTC provided me with a solution to downgrade the firmware. This worked for me.

This is the dutch explanation they sent me:
--------------------------------------------------------

Tools \ lighthouse\ firmware \ lighthouse_tx \ archievef \ htc_2.0

U heeft de twee onderstaande bestanden nodig:

* Lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-kalibratie-rescue-244.bin
* lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-244-2016-03-12.bin

5. Kopieer tot over de schijf van de "lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-kalibratie-rescue-244.bin" file.
6. Zodra het kopiëren is voltooid, trek het snoer.

[UPDATE: Never mind. The base station with the downgraded firmware was not actually tracking, even though the SteamVR says it's ready and the light was green.]

Thanks! I had the issue with the blinking red light in one of the base stations, with Fault 02, and 10009 error. Running the calibration rescue firmware and then downgrading the firmware to lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-244-2016-03-12.bin worked for me. (The 298-2016-05-05 and 436-2016-09-20 firmware versions had the issue).

The other base station didn't have any problems so I did not downgrade the firmware.

"1. With the base station unpowered, connect via a micro-B USB cable to your PC.
2. Hold the mode button down and plug in the power lead.
3. You can release the button once it enumerates as a USB mass storage device.
4. The drive will be called “CRP_DISABLED” and contain one file “firmware.bin”, delete that file.
5. Copy over onto the drive the “lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-calibration-rescue-244.bin” file.
6. Once the copy is complete, pull out the power lead.
7. Wait a few seconds then plug in the power again. Be sure not to press the mode button while powering it up this time.
8. In a couple of seconds it should rapidly flash green or red. Green means it succeeded.
9. If it is flashing red that means it couldn’t automatically fix it and I’ll need to look at the unit to work out why.
10. Unplug the power again.
11. Repeat steps 1 thru 7 but using the “lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-244-2016-03-12.bin” firmware file instead of the rescue one.
12. The base should now be working again, confirm by setting its mode to "A" and tracking with it alone (the other base turned off). Once it is confirmed working you can add back the other base."

HELP:
In 8, the base station flashes green, only forever. I left 8 hours to see if something was changed and nothing.

If I make it to the end by putting the "lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-244-2016-03-12.bin" it turns green, visibly corrected. The first time I even saw box 2 inside the VR (the damaged one), but the box was not really working, it would lose the trace if I stayed in the blind spot of box 1 (working well).

Same problem after a lighthouse automatic update, steam vr annonces that the update has failed. And after that one of the lighthouse base doesnt' work anymore.
Red Led blinking, stranges alphanumeric code are displayed.
The rescue procedure works properly, but at the top end of it lighthouse return to redled blinking,
and doesn't work anymore.

Not the same cause for the fault but a good thing to try if all else fails.

I have had an issue with my base station for some time now and just today decided to take a look at it myself. It was the fault 02 and had happened after it had fallen off of my makeshift base tower of boxes. I tried everything I had seen and nothing worked. Once I got it apart I noticed a one plug was not in place and after plugging it in the base station worked flawlessly again. This plug itself is not a normal plug type, it lays flat on top of the contacts and does not snap in at all. I believe that dropping the station or even the vibrations that it produces could easily unplug this cord, which there are two of.

First remove power form the base station.

To take the station apart, you have to use a knife or sharp flat head screw driver on the front screen. It is held with adhesive and small clips but will work off once you slide your knife around the whole face.

Then there are four torque head screws size 6 that hold everything in. Once those are removed everything slides out and you can see if anything is unplugged. If so just plug in and apply power and check for the green light.

I hope this helps those that haven't found another solution.

I also don't think that HTC really wants you to take the base apart but if you can't find another solution you might as well try.

Don't apply power without ensuring everything is back in place, including all the plastic parts; the lasers inside are very dangerous, you can go blind if it hits your eye without going thru the lens or if the stuff isn't spinning fast enough, and there are probably other risks. And just in case, don't look at the front of the basestations or any reflective surfaces if you're within like an arm's lenght or something of a powered base you have dissambled in the past.

in reply to the light blinking green after steps 1-7, is there a point where it would stop blinking? mine just continues to blink green in the top and i havent seen any other signs of it correcting itself to be used
