BTW can anyone try to remove the app they use for VR for a none VR headset and see if the issue stop then? or try to see if the settings for that has some hot key settings?

Ok, just found this thread after having the same trouble and I agree, SO FRUSTRATING. However, I think I did just find a fix for it. At least for specifically our troubles with the KinoVR app but could work with other 3rd party VR softwares.

There's a specific folder within the SteamVR's Drivers that is linked to the Kinoni stream viewer (with KinoVR uses), and if you go in there and delete that folder, it'll have no link to open it.

So go to; Steam>steamapps>common>SteamVR>drivers. In there, there should be a folder labelled Kinoni or something like that, delete it, and then 'Y' will no longer launch Steam VR.

This may be a fix for other 3rd party softwares as well, just look for your specific name of the software you have in that drivers folder and get rid of it. As to why it was opening on 'Y' in the first place, I have absolutely no idea, but hopefully this helps.

Side note, I haven't tested this long term so I don't know whether if I restart my computer it'll all come back. I'm pretty sure it won't though.

For me was a combination of first uninstalling SteamVR then removing the kinoni forlder and then when SteamVR is installed again, it won't open any more with the Y key.

Finally Y can wryte wyth y!! :steamhappy:

Awesome, glad to see you found a solution!

Also, just to update it's been what just over 2 months or so and the problem hasn't come back so hopefully my post helped to steer you in the right direction. Happy VR-ing guys and happy new year! :cozyspaceengineersc:

Good job finding another post, but that fix has been mentioned several times throughout this thread.

The problem is the Kinoni driver / KinoVR.

I found a solution go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\drivers and make the kinovr folder read and write and delete it
