A good initial build order is MG42, then two Grenadiers. Then, depending on the map, you may wish to take a second MG, a mortar, or a third Grenadier. Always get a PaK as soon as possible. Lots of players use 222 scout cars but I've never liked them myself.
If you're using the Ostruppen commander, don't do the above, don't even build the intial infantry building, but instead build 6 Ostruppen and use them to cap as much of the map as possible, then concentrate them on the enemy. Get a halftrack to reinforce them in the field, followed by Panzergrenadiers for AT.
A Pak, squad of Pgrens to protect your support weapons and a HT works like a charm and gives you staying power until you can tech further.
My kind of go to build in the since is 3 grens, mg, mortar/mg depending on situation. I then either use stormtroopers to flank and attack a fortified position or I use them as my early anti tank.
I tech up along the way when I can to get an early tank out either being a ostwind or a stug maybe a pz 4 if i got the fuel.
throw a few packs in there along with assault rifle storms and thats my go to force for most games.
T1: 1 Pioneer with Flamethrower. 1 Assault Grenadier Squad. 1 Grenadier Squad. 1 Medic Bunker near HQ. 2 MGs. 1 Mortar.
It is crucial you have at least 1 of every unit above. Depending on the situation you will add more HMGs or Mortars.
T2: If enemy has no fuel: 1 Scout Car then PAK. Enemy has fuel PAK first, Scout Car optional.
Add a Panzer Grenadier when you can.
T3: If enemy has no Tanks - Ostwind first then Stug G or Panzer IV. If enemy has Tanks - Stug G or Panzer 4 then add another anti-tank vehicle.
After this the units you need will be dictated by the battlefield. If you took care of your initial units they should all be Vet 2 or 3.
In emergencies use Stug E as a stop-gap anti-Infantry and anti-light vehicle. Half-Track assault group to get a Panzer Grenadier unit to the frontlines faster.
T1:1 gren>mg>2gren>up flame for pioneer:UP TIER
T2:scout car>1 motar haftrack or 1 sniper or 1 motar>1 pz gren> pak 40 before 12mn>UP tier
T3 : U have 2 choice now:
1: ostwind+2 pak
2: 1 pz4+ 1 pak
Late game: depand on u :))
P/S: AT before 12mn for counter sherman or T-34
Scout car ><M20 or M3
If the enemy retreat, send 1-2 squad to his cut off or fuel or munition point for harass :))
Good luck, thx u for reading!
Also i dont know what mode you play, 1v1,2v2,3v3 ? When i play with friends, i mostly take Elite troops, for Vet 3 grens with mg's, very stronk, air support thing, which can drop fuel, and if ignored for a decent amount of time, will lead to the tank fest, the 3rd is either Panzerjäger cmd with Riegelmine, scopes and Elefant or the one with Stormtroopers. Depens hard on the map and enemys.
Also i prefer the StuG before i build the Pz IV, dunno, i like it more, its pretty strong , and with the buffs from the recent patch its even better :P But could also be that i like some 'mobile' AT, when my Inf can hold their ground, i dont need an PZ IV, i need something that will prevent enemy armor to kill my Inf :P But yeah, if enemy mass-blobs, get an Ostwind, otherwise i dunno, dont like it that much :P
Stormtroopers are good, very good vs INF and can be made for CQ or AT, also you can deploy them in buildings :) Also the Stuka in that Doctrine is gud to get rid of the enemy fuel point. Sadly i think it lacks any type of armor call-in, not that you need it, just btw. Also on maps with chokepoints where you can easy cut them off, this Commander is brutal, if played well, that isolated rain of doom is there very good :P
thanks for this info^ what do you normally build for AT after the first AT gun and pgren?
i like the storms with AT, stugs and panthers. the assault rifles are great as far as my experience. theres one thing i dont like about the commander and its that he gets no smoke for tanks. im good with smoke and saving tanks so i dont use it. ive been using elite troops and lightning war for the tiger and stukas. i only use my munitions on grenades and gun upgrades then i have plenty for smoke blitz and maybe stukas depending on how many grenades i throw.
