Baltic states were invaded BEFORE. In 1939. By RUSSIANS (soviets, bolsheviks, communists, whatever). And germans drove them off. YES. They showed that they ain't that much better. BUT. They weren't there for long enough to inflict as much damage as russians. HENCE. Locals sometimes consider germans as less evil. WHAT. ARE. YOU. TRIPPING. ON. IN. THIS?

Look: everything would be the other way around 'if they were' but they didnt. Are you expecting the general population of the planet to have some kind of clairvoyance? People remember what has been done to them and not what has not been done to them. This is a moot point.

Nord was stationed in Norway iirc. Also had a number of personnel in camp and einsatzgruppen rotation. No surprise. I cant be arsed researching the foreign legions you listed, but their tendency to support civilian-led pogroms is well known.

Are any of you guys from the Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Belarus etc region? Because from what I've seen on these forums, theres a whole lot of misinformation, Nazi apologism and downright hatred of anything Soviet from that area.

Yeah life under the Soviets was probably pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥. But that is better than being 6 feet under or some slave for your Aryan masters surely?

Im under the impression that the topic of how bad the nazis were became too boring so people started raising an interest in the russians. I dont doubt the campaign of coh2 has something to do with it.

You are correct. For most people, opinions on the Nazis is very black and white. Nazis are bad. I'd be hard pressed to find someone who disagrees with me. But the Soviets? Less so. Yes they liberated eastern europe from the Nazis, but they also maintained control of these states for the remainder of the century. There are other examples. It's easier to have a flame war about the actions of the Soviet Union in WW2 than it is to have one about the actions of Nazi Germany in WW2.

Actually, quite a few people. It's this Ultranationalist movement you see in Russia and other former Soviet states. I recall the ringleader of that Russian football hoolaganism thing during the world cup is a leader of one of these Ultranationalist groups.Or maybe I remembered that wrong.
