The Soviet army was only untrained conscripts as far as Relic is concerned.
The Soviets had the largest Airbourne force in the world at points during the 1930's, the Soviet Union was truly one of the first countries to take Airbourne troops seriously and 10,000+ troops were dropped on the Eastern Front during WW2.
So you are wrong on history in this regard and relic did just completely ignore it in favour of,
" 1 rifle for every 10 men, vodka, bears, not one step back! "
So you never heard about Operation Mercury: The German Invasion of Crete, 20 May-1 June 1941

or
The Battle of Fort Eben-Emael

Soviet Airbourne actually fit quite well into Relics idea of the Soviet Army, because they were used in what were essentially suicide missions to halt the German advance and give time for the Red Army to prepare defenses. They were brave lads.
No problem, sorry if I came off as rude or anything, it's just an important part of history.
Please do not confuse a computer game with real life, you're a layman!
In the game you can portray anything and how to distort the real historical facts. For example, to please the bastards adoring their WWII's german army
...who were the first criminals to attack and enslave other nations;
The soviet paratroopers has existed! And quite successfully. Maybe not so massively, but it was definitely and was effective. Not worse than the disgusting nazi army which is adored by any developers of computer games based on the second world war.
Untrained conscripts and criminals lol.
The Soviets used criminals but their army was hardly untrained.
They had a reserves system and an insane number of reserves to call up.
1: The Soviet Army was well equipped, it was the first army to adopt an SMG as a standard weapon as opposed to a rifle, this had mixed results but being able to equip a huge portion of the military with PPSH's was impressive.
2: The Soviet Union was entirely militarized, children learned military skills, conscription was mandatory and reservists got called up for training regularly.
3: Of course criminals were called up to service and there were penal battalions, but this is overblown in the grand picture.
According to COH, 50% of the Soviet Army were unmotivated, untrained goofballs and 50% were anti-Bolshevik writers and rapists who got pulled out of the gulag.
When in reality, 80%+ of the Red Army were regular Men, Women and even Children who were well equipped, had training and were fighting for their country because they knew it was a war of extermination that the Germans were launching.
But that's not the Hollywood version of the Eastern Front that relic seems quite fond of.
