Possible differences could be, for example, that one of you has chosen a job for a map dlc that the other has not.
What about training... Can one of you drive a type of goods that the other has no training for?
What about trailer... are any of you trying to use your own trailer for a job this trailer can't use?
My friend is a starting player so he's much less advanced than I am. He's been the host on both occasions though, so I should have seen what he was offered even if the other way around wouldn't have been true. What's more, convoys are quite permissive: if you don't have a truck, the game can lend you one but your friends can use theirs, same goes for trailers I guess, so this shouldn't have been the issue. Plus, as I said, our convoy session worked fine the first time and not at all the second time.
In detail though:
- we have the same DLCs and use the same mods (I automatically downloaded his)
- we were only using our own tractors with no personal trailers
- he was the host so he was offered a limited range of missions which I should have obviously had access to considering I'm lvl 33 with almost maxed out skill trees, including all hazardous materials & shipment types unlocked
What happened was that, if we were parked at the same job giver, we would generally see similar jobs (like, say, a shipment of logs, milk and dry fruits) but each one to different cities; mine went to Verona, his to Bordeaux, and so on. And, unlike during our first successful session, whenever one of us selected a mission, the other couldn't see it displayed in the convoy tab (which was just empty) and so obviously couldn't click on it to select it as his own active mission.
I really have no clue why it didn't work this time, but considering we don't have that much spare time in common to play together, having to spend the 2/3rds of it trying to figure out what's going on is quite frustrating.
But as far as I remember, it is not unusual that you both cannot see the same jobs in the job list.
- This will, for example, could happen if you have training to drive significantly longer trips than your friend (Here I am thinking of the example you mention of you being able to see a trip to Verona while he could see a trip to Bordeaux)
But the moment your friend who has the lowest level has accepted a job, you should be able to see this and join him with the same job.
- And yes, I remember that if you don't have a truck and/or trailer yourself, you can borrow these vehicles.
I have no experience with mods in convoy, so if that's where your problem is, I can't help.
When looking at Quick Jobs, Freight Market and Cargo Market you will likely not ever see the same jobs because these lists are populated by your locally running game; there is no server link to sync these.
The only time you will see the exact same offerings is when looking at the External Market and External Cargo lists, as these are generated by WoT and shown to everyone connected to WoT. The caveat here, though, is that each player is only shown a subset list of all available jobs, so one or more player may need to use the Refresh button to see a particular job that another is seeing.
With all that said, you won't see a job showing in the Convoy list for another player until after they have accepted the job. And when working from Quick/Freight/Cargo lists, you don't actually "accept" the job until you show up at the business and take it; the initial "set GPS to job" function is not the acceptance and thus you won't know another player in the Convoy session is on the way to a job. With External WoT jobs, as soon as you select the job, you've "accepted" it and then have to drive over and hitch to your trailer, so other Convoy players will see that job on the Convoy list before that player has actually hitched up.
Thank you for the clarification. That last bit however is still part of the issue: we indeed supposed at one point that one of us had to accept a job for the other to see it so we parked litterally side by side at a business and my friend accepted a trip. This is, if I understood correctly, when I should have seen it pop up in the Convoy tab and be able to select it as a waypoint, but the list remained empty. And when I opened the job list from the flashing marker at the entrance of the business, I still couldn't see my friend's job.
We don't play External contracts and don't intend to - this feature has been severely bugged with me, I failed numerous contracts because of random "mission crashes" occurring right before the end of the trip with my truck getting endlessly resetted a few miles back and not allowing me to finish the trip, so I've been avoiding External contracts like plague ever since unless I'm forced to by some ETS/ATS online event. But that set aside, it doesn't explain why I can randomly see, then not see again, my friend's jobs despite always reproducing the very same steps. The purpose of Convoys being to allow people to play together in closed/private sessions, it would probably be a wise move to sync all Quick/Freight/Cargo jobs for all players in a convoy session...
In the meantime, by lack of a better solution I guess we'll have to try again and again to take and abandon jobs while parked at the same location hoping to miraculously eventually find the same ones.
