After posting this message I decided to enter the game and play for a while. In just 2 short hours of gameplay I came across 3 incidents where trucks where parked across the road at highway intersections (near blindspots)....... 2 trucks with trailers literally parked in the middle of the highway... 1 truck was just cutting across lanes without a care in the world like he was on acid or something..... and then....... with about 60% of a 750 mile run completed ... a truck with trailer came barreling down the highway behind me..... jumped 2 lanes to the left and purposely rammed me off the road completely disableing my truck.
Now i'm a patient guy normally. But to have to experience all of that nonsense in just a 2 hour period..... not to mention what i'll likely have to put up with if played for another 2 hours..... then another....... and another...... i've decided screw it..... i've had enough.
They win.... ♥♥♥♥ em. If they want the damn roads..... they can have them.
I quit.
I never had these problem...
at night the drivers are more mature.
Driving at night may cut down on the problem a bit but I doubt it will resolve it. When playing a game like "World of Warcraft", for example, (which I played as well) the punk ass kids aren't as much of a concern. There's a fair chance your Night Elf, or whatever, is strong enough to handle itself, and the punk ass kid may get it's character's ass kicked instead. The punks sometimes realize that they're not quite as intimidating as they thought they were.
But when playing a game like ETS2.... you don't have a Night Elf with magic spells. My truck doesn't have a magic shield, and it can't morph into a bird and fly out of danger. It's completely defenseless against any attacks. And it's this level of "lack of defense" system that places the mature players at a serious disadvantage. In the World of Warcraft we can defend ourselves. In ETS2..... we are all just sitting ducks/targets... and there's nothing we can do about it. We can complain as i'm doing now.... we can quit the game like i'm also doing... but at the end of the day.... they win.... we lose.... period.
It's just simply not worth it. (in my opinion).
You doubt, that means you don't drive at night much when the kids are asleep.
Again, i never had these problems, i only drive after 23:00 (amsterdam time).
When I said "I doubt it will resolve the problem".... I was speaking from the mathematical probability of 100% of the trolls being offline during the day 100% of the time.... which I "doubt" will happen. If you believe otherwise.... again..... very good. I'm not opposing your opinion.... i'm simply offering mine.
If they add AI cars.... then maybe i'll try the game again and see if the AI's made a difference. I doubt the AI cars will completley resolve the problem either... but maybe they'll help make it all a bit more tolerable.
Again.... just an opinion.
6 hours on this mod and I play from approx 1000 CET+1 (summer time) and 1600 CET+1.
I'm also one of the punks who do 160 when there's no one around, but slam on full braking the moment I see another truck. I constantly "tab" on single-lane roads as well. I also know exactly how fast I need to take the tight autobahn on/off-ramps (approx 80km/h before starting to tip over).
The game is young... not even 2 weeks old yet. And I only have 15 hours logged to date from maybe 4-5 loggins. I don't experience problems every time.... but know that such nonsense exists.... and have had some "shaking my head" moments in addition to the ideas listed above.
The programmers need more time to attack these issues. I'm not expecting everything to be 100% perfect in a game not offered by the official gaming website, in less than 2 weeks after it's introduction.
I'll simply have to wait for updates and see if things are more tolerable.
I get what you are saying, i just want fellow truckers to enjoy this game.
:)
And yes, AI traffic would be a game changer :p
I had one guy cut into me sharply after he overtook me. It was blatent because I went into the shoulder to give him more room, and he cut back all the way into the shoulder. I got squeezed, 2% damage or so.
I still raged.
I have 3 years of experience in lag blocking in a low-budget ancient racing game at 300-400ms ping and the lag mechanics in ETS2MP is strikingly similar to that game. So I overtook him back on *my* screen, did an early and aggressive cutback all the way into the shoulder on *my* screen without hitting him on *my* screen. Except on *his* screen, I had just broadsided him and I saw his truck rolling over in my mirror. And I knew from the beginning that this would happen.
Moral of the story. Wait 80 distance units (press tab) before changing back lanes.
You're going to have to back that up.
also i only played the multiplayer mod for like 10 min but i was able to pass through other players, iam confused, how didnt we ram into each other, how was we able to pass through each other ?
