ETS2 Multiplayer is fantastic!
Hi all,

I just wanted to share my thoughts on ETS2 multiplayer... It's fantastic and really enhances the experience of ETS 2 for me, making the game feel more engaging and less like i'm driving around with a bunch of clueless, pointless and boring AI traffic.

The EU server was really really busy the whole time I was on tonight testing the mod and 95% of all other drivers I encountered obeyed teh road rules and gave a friendly honk/flash.

Also, I just wanted to say a huge thanks to the admins tireless efforts keeping the baddies at bay. It's impossible to make 100% of the playerbase comply with the rules, but the admins were showing no mercy to deliberate 'incidents' and I hope they continue that way permanently :)

Playing between single and multiplayer is seemless and if connection to the server is lost, you do not get disconnected (from my experience so far atleast), you simply seemlessly switch into offline mode and continue on your route, if connection is re-established you just plop back into an online server.

Overall my experience with this so far is better than that of most AAA developers work and I really wanted to give it the credit and praise I feel it deserves. If you havn't tried it yet, you're missing out on a fantastic experience.

If you're interested in joining the online mod of Euro Truck sim 2, here's the only official download link: http://alpha.ets2mp.com/

Note: You will be asked to sign into your steam account to verify that you own the game and thus can play the mod, sign in and you will be forwarded to the download page. Once downloaded, install the mod into your ETS2 directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Euro Truck Simulator 2) on my pc, then hit play :)

If some little red text appears in the bottom left telling you that your protocol does not match the servers, it likely means that there has been an updated release of the mod so you should repeat the process above to obtain the latest version.

Important: I encountered a problem whereby once I completed the first quick job (on a new profile) online, I was unable to see any more jobs listed anywhere. After an hour of troubleshooting and googling, the problem was resolved by creating a new profile in the singleplayer version, running the first quick job and then another, longer quick job in order to get to level 1, choosing my first level upgrade thingy (I chose long distance driving) and then going online. Everything worked fine from there on and I was able to see all the jobs available as it should be.

I really hope many of you reading this will give it a try and enjoy your experience! If you get stuck setting it up or have questions etc, just post them in here and I or another reader will no doubt help you out as best we can :)

All the best,
MoonSponge

It is fun but be warned there are people that like to ram others. I encountered this twice. One time a guy actually rammed me head first leaving my truck at 100 % damage. Luckily the game auto saves every few minutes so I was able to go back one save and was fine.

Well, to be concise, when they say "multiplayer mod," they mean "MMO mod." And if I wanted to play "multiplayer" I'd want to do it with just me and a single friend. I have no intention of playing "World of Warcraft PvP with trucks!" Also, with everyone calling this a "multiplayer mod" what you're really doing is clouding the language. Just like calling someone who has sex with a woman who has a boxom bosom and a carpet a "pedophile" because they did it the day before the girl turned eighteen.

Man kind's future requires a universal language that has it's roots founded in reality, not this muddled, cloudy ♥♥♥♥ we have today. And every time you call this mod a "multiplayer mod," you're actually helping set mankind back by decades instead of helping us move towards the future.

Multiplayer - ADJECTIVE: "Denoting a computer game designed for or involving several players."

If we were to trust one of the many dictionaries instead of a random person on a forum (you), we'd see that "multiplayer" is a totally appropriate term for this game-mod that involves several players. By the way, it should be noted that while not all multiplayer games are MMOs: all MMOs are multiplayer games. Even if this did fall under the umbrella of MMO as you allege, it would still also be a multiplayer game nonetheless. It's kind of how all falcons are birds, but not all birds are falcons.

I concour on the awesomeness of this mod. Just wish there were AI cars, and that your company drivers still continued to work and make cash.

How do you load up the auto save file? I usually just alt+tab+delete out, and restart the game. I'm just curious if there was another way.

i like online but the new collision system in cities are a big problem with these kids ramming around i already made a little video where i talk about in it

here if you are intrested in it(i am not a great youtuber)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfZLkIW19X8

but on the other side the good thing about this new system is the realism since you cant push through red atm in the cities and need to watch out for people that are going through red and since its a sim game realism is more important i think i already start playing more at night and that fix the little rammers problem
