(Guide) How to play ETS2 Multiplayer! :)

Hey! :)

There's quite a large amount of people out there that don't know how to actually connect to ETS2 Multiplayer, so I wanted to help out by writing this quick guide with instructions detailing what you need to do to get started on your trucking adventures!

Firstly, it's important to point out that the ability to play this great game with other people is being brought to us by a mod, meaning it is being developed independent people, not SCS software (the folks that create Euro Truck Simulator 2), so if you get stuck, ask the community for help as SCS software have nothing to do with it.

Right, with that out of the way let's get you started. To begin just follow the following simple steps:

Step 1) Click the 'sign in with steam' button on the official ETS2 multiplayer download page, linked here: https://truckersmp.com/

Step 2) Log in with your steam login details to verify that you own the game and can play multiplayer.

Step 3) Press the big download button

Step 4) Run the downloaded file (Located wherever you downloaded it)

Step 5) Run Euro Truck Simulator 2 Multiplayer, select the server you wish to join and start the game (EU server is by far the most populated usually at around 3000 players compared to 400 on the US server).

Step 6) Create a new profile or select an existing one (recommended to start a new one as AI drivers do not currently function in multiplayer).

Step 7) Enjoy! :)

A couple of tips from my own experiences incase you run into trouble:

NO JOBS AVAILABLE IN THE FREIGHT MARKET OR QUICK JOB LIST:
Once you get into the game and start running jobs, if at any point the jobs stop appearing in the list of available jobs, just sleep at a rest stop somewhere, it should fix the problem!

YOUR VERSION OF THE MOD IS OUTDATED (ETS2 MP WEBSITE APPEARS)
It means there is a new version of the mod and it's good news for all, bugs get fixed (and sometimes bring in new ones!), content gets added, stuff gets changed and so on. To fix it and start playing again, you just need to download the mod again so that you get the latest version. Click the download button on the ETS2 MP download page (The same one that's linked in the guide above and/or on the page that comes up automatically after giving you the error message when trying to launch the game) > Sign in with your steam login info again and run the downloaded file to install the latest version, then you're ready to roll once more!

HOW DO I REPORT A PLAYER FOR X REASON?
Someone being naughty? It's recommended you report them so that the server admins can filter out the ones that are damaging other players enjoyment of the game, and it's really simple to do! Simply open the chat window by pressing 'Y' on your keyboard and write the following: /report PLAYERID REASON

A player ID is the number the appears next to peoples name in the chat window and when you press 'Tab' to bring up the list of other drivers nearby your location. It's important to write the correct ID when reporting someone, also be sure to write a a reason describing what they did to you and/or others.

Can't believe it. ETS2MP/TruckersMP has been around for 6 long years. And I've been playing it for 5.

This guide is still accurate aside from the link. Actually thought more would have changed(and out of Alpha, but nope).

Pardon the disturbance. Oh, and Steam didn't unsubscribe you from the thread in all this time, shocking.

Just to confirm, I read that you had to have your Steam profile as public for the mod. Is it only for the initial installation or must it remain public for the whole time you play?

I've just checked with my Steam Profile set as private. I think you need to put your profile public for the first log-in (or after every launcher installation) to confirm your hours played in ETS2 or ATS (minimum is 2 hours for each game). Then you can put it back to private and you still should be able to play on multiplayer servers. If I'm wrong then I'm sorry.

Yup. Only need to be public during the initial registration. After that, as long as Steam is running, you can play TruckersMP and have a private profile.
