Selling a Garage?
I've been expanding my empire...now I'm just a few thousand away from my first volcano base and white cat to stroke while I interrogate government spies who try to infiltrate my network...bwahaha!

Seriously though, I've been hiring workers to get me a bit of extra cash. However I have just realised that one of the garages I have purchased could be in a better place - the city it is in has four industries, but the next city over has no less than five, and one of those is a chemical plant. So if I'm not to much mistaken, that would be a better option for a garage, since more industry would mean drivers are less likely to be unable to find a job, and chemicals give some of the highest return. Think I'm correct in that reasoning, right?

So with that in view, I'm thinking of buying the garage there instead, and moving all my crew and trucks over from the old garage to the new one. However I was wondering if there might be a way that I may have missed, to sell a garage that you have bought but no longer want? I know that you don't have to pay for garage upkeep, just maintennence of trucks within said garage, so if it just stands empty it won't cost me any money. But I kinda wish I could get back my 144,000 GBP that I spent to get the thing in the first place...

If there isn't a way then that's fine, my own fault for not paying attention when I bought it. And perhaps in some time when my company gets big enough I'll have every garage in every city, so I'll be able to staff it once more and make some cash from it again. But I figured I'd ask here just in case some eagle-eyed player might have spotted a small 'sell' option that I might have missed.

Whatever the case, thanks in advance for any advice^^

just leave your current garage the way it is makeing money. Then just buy the other garage a little later after you make some more money. In just a short time you are going to have over a dozen garages. And you will just keep on growing like that.

True, but if I can make money quicker then I can buy more garages quicker. That's why I'm thinking of shifting the crew of that garage over to the bigger city. I would like to have a garage in every city at some point though, so even if there is no way to sell I will -eventually- get to use it I guess.

it's not going to make you enough extra money to make it worth the effort, you might make a little extra each day, but doubtful. And it's going to cost you 180,000 to get another garage and then move. that would be 2 more drivers and trucks you could get for the existing garage which would still put it way ahead. Or 100k to expand it and hire another driver if you already have 3. but its your game, play it however it makes you enjoy it the most.

By the way, is there a resource where you can see all the industries in all the cities in-game? A wiki or something? Haven't been able to find one, and it gets tedious looking at all the cities manually...

You could write one, Rickenbacker. :)

not currently, but the devs want to create a wiki-style page, hopefuly this year. at the moment you can find only player created guides

And to answer the original question, you can't sell an existing garage unfortunately.

Well, tell SCS to call me, and I'll invoice them after :).

I do already have three there yeah. But you could be right. I'll have a think about it and see what I come up with, still got a loan to pay off first so I don't have to decide immediately. Thanks for the feedback all^^

I did look at all cities manually, and I can say that four industries is most common throughout the map, with some dropping down to three. So if a city has four, it's a decent bet for a garage to be sited there. Just take care, because there are a couple of cities out there that only have two industries in their control, so it would probably be best to avoid them until you have money to burn.

The only cities I could find that have five industries to their names are as follows:

Berlin
Gdansk
Milano
Salzburg

I think I was pretty thorough with my examination, but there's a chance I might have missed one somewhere so keep checking. I also recently descovered the Scout factory near Praha that I don't think I saw before, so whether that ups that city's count to five as well I'm not sure, have to check when I'm next on the game.

Funny how Scout only has that one depot and no others anywhere in Europe, wonder if they'll do something with that in the future. Also I noticed a number of warehouses in some cities that have a loading bay and a name on the side, but no green marker to pick up jobs - it seems they are not in use. Have to keep an eye on those too, because if they are activated in future updates then the number of cities that have 5 industries might rise significantly (as those depots are common in many towns), and a couple of those fivers listed above might even rise to six!

What's the rush. Sooner or later, more like later, you'll run out of driver, because I have hired them already.
48 or 49 Garages, 156 Trucks 154 of them on the road, can't get any more driver.
Got about 130,000,000.00 Euros in the bank but have troubles to transfer it to my personal account. The bank say's the transfer didn't go through.

Thanks for your report, it matches my general feeling (which is why I upgraded my Berlin garage today :)). Interesting about the Scout factory too, what kind of freights to you get from them?

In addition to the extra, unused depots (some of which even have signs with company names on them!) there are now bus depots in every city. Does this mean that Euro Coach Sim will be an expansion to ETS 2, or that we'll get to drive buses in ETS2?

Euro Coach Sim? Now THAT'S an interesting thought...is there actually a game with that name in development?

The Scout factory is apparently a car manufacturing plant (and if you look at the Scout logo on the front of the loading bay building, it bears a rather striking resemblence to the badge of a certain Czech car manufacturer who's name is not a million miles away from sounding phonetically like 'Scout'. And indeed, some of the traffic car models in the game resemble some of that car manufacturer's bodyshapes.).

So far I've only seen car transporter trailers and forklift truck trailers come from their depot, although I have not checked them very regularly so there may be other freights too. I know that when I made a delivery TO the depot the trailer I was hauling contained electronics, which totally makes sence for a car manufacturer.

Looks like SCS are putting the building blocks in place for a whole lot of major revisions and upgrades in the future - I like this potential :D

I'm sure I remember SCS blogging about their next game being Euro Coach Sim... Not sure when it was though, probably before the release of ETS 2. But fact is that the last patch added bus stations to all cities, which to me says that we'll get buses sometime in the future :).
