New youtube series starting: ETS 2 from a professional truck driver's perspective
Hello fello ETS 2 fans. I just wanted to let you all know that I'm starting a new video series on YouTube. What I hope sets me apart is that I am a retired truck driver, who truly enjoys this game. In the series, I'm hoping to be able to help with questions like: "What is the "simulate air brakes"? And what does it mean?", and "When do I shift?", along with tips on how to drive the way I did, and the way I trained other drivers to operate long haul trucks. I'm also hoping to have quite a bit of fun along the way. I could use your help with constructive critism, and ideas for what my fellow sim drivers would like to see in my future videos.

Here's the link to the first video in the series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgtToBDlwB4

Let me know what you think...thanks!

You actually got my interest in the video, I have experience in this field what so ever so you helped me learn some new things. First video was good and short cant wait to see the next one. Also keep up the good work and keep on trucking :hittheroad::hittheroad::hittheroad:
Good Video!
AugLine and Arcticspyder, thanks! I'm going to do another one today, and probably a 3rd that'll focus on the delivery and parking of the trailer. (this is cool...someone looked at 'em)
I think there will be a lot of people looking forward to this series.
Excellent...I'm hoping so!
I liked the video. I think a video training series done in ETS2 by an actual trucking instructor would be well received. You should do what ever it was you planned and wanted to do, but since you asked for suggestions and such........perhaps different lessons for each episode, done in different scenic areas of ETS2. You could talk about and show how something is done, and how it differs in ETS2 compared to real life. Now, I don't want you to feel like your stuck in a job you already put behind you, but "real" truck driver training done in ETS2 is something we haven't seen before on youtube. Looking forward to what comes next. Best of luck.
I liked the walk-through/talk-through of it.
Thanks, guys :) Thrak: I think that idea is a valid one...I'm going to think on it, and figure out how I'd do it. It won't be that hard. And the reason why I decided to do this series is because I haven't found any "real" truck driver training either, and I saw a lot of posts here, and on other forums, with people wondering, for instance, how to truly back in a trailer. So, again, thanks for the feed back. It'd really help me a lot, also, because of the "unique" angle I'm taking, if people would select "like" or the "thumbs up" icon on youtube. And leave comments there, as well. It will help the video to be seen sooner in googe/youtube searches.
The second video is being Uploaded right now. I cover lane control, driving the trailer, not the tractor, a little shifting, and the parking maneuver at the end of the trip. Hope you like it...

I'll post again when it's ready
Looking forward to it.. Would love to know the techniques and theory behind reversing and parking the trailers.. I've only just learnt to drive a car and parking one of them involves theory and little tips.. so I assume truck drivers have the same when it comes to reversing..
excellent. going to get the cats eyes for sure :)
nice vids.

JCD I wanted to tell that I used your method for parking my trailer, worked the first shot. THANKS A LOT!
Awesome, guys, thanks! Please leave comments on YouTube, as well. I'm checking those often. There was a glitch with the uploadof the second video, and I'm having to do it again. So, it will be up today, for sure.

DavidVI: congrats on learning to drive, hope you have many years ahead, and as few tickets as possible! Yes, there's theory behind the driving...it's angles and the acuteness or obtuseness of them...can get pretty deep. I'll cover some in video 3 (vid 2 is uploading)

Holden_Mcgroin: (awesome name) Those cat eyes just look cool!

Arcticspyder: You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it and learned. You'll find that the more you park, the better you'll get, and it'll be second nature. Just remember, take it slow.

We'll be seeing on the road, drive safe!

Bloody fantastic says the man from the UK, I cant reverse to save mylife allways looking at the outside view, HOWEVER driving parallel before you did a hard right and to get the apex right and just look at the wheels and LOOK IN THE MIRRORS,,,,,,, I shall take all this on board, fantastic video simple but effective, GREAT thumbs up from me. +1....COMMENTS made on the tube

This game misses a few of the really good things you had in others. For example cop cars actually sitting besides the road when you go into town too fast the cop would actually follow you and once they got in a range with you auto fine you with the bill :).

The next big bug i have is that they still havent included say road blocks / sleep in cabin when not at a parking spot / Road Signs near towns that are close to the road and make you slow down becuase you have more traffic / also traffic in general where is it ?.

No Gas light ie when you break and let all the gas out theres no way to tell when the breaks are full or whatnot so you can move again.

some of the roads are too sharp when turning so you will find on some of the most tighter corners your trailer no matter how big will always go into the other lane.

T - intersections that have an s bend to them are too close to the road and makes it hard to turn if not run over the road sign and just continue with small amount of damage.

why am i ranting lol i dont know. Its good to hear that a trucker has taken to uploading videos of what they like to do, Thanks for letting us know :).
