4x2's or 6x4/6x2-4 question
What are pros and cons of having a 4x2, 6x2-4, or 6x4?

If you have a realistic physics mod installed, then 6x4 is definitely the way to go. It accelerates almost like a sports car, barely loses any speed on all but the very steepest hills, and is much more stable than the 4x2 on long corners. The smaller fuel capacity is totally worth it considering the huge gains you get in other areas.

Unfortunately though I can't advise on the default game physics...

the only thing physics mods do is make your truck bounce more

My truck always bounces too much, I use scania.
French country roads are so annoying and they make me tip over my truck all to much.

The 4x2 and 6x2/4 have no basic differences other than fuel tank size. In the 6x4 however, both back axles have drive power, so it's useful if you ever go off the road into the dirt. With the 4x2 and 6x2/4 you might get stuck with your wheels spinning, for example, while in the 6x4 you have both rear axles turning so more of a chance that at least one tire is on solid ground.

someone did a test on youtube and the result was...the 6x2 and the 6x4 turn at the same rate. the 6x4-2 turn was noticably larger. as far as fuel capacity goes...it doesnt really matter as there are gas stations friggin everywhere.

Well at last, i don't care about the fuel tank capacity. I drive my volvo FH16 Classic 6x4 just for style. If it do more waste or not, i don't care.
If you drive thinking about money or waste of fuel, go play barbie truck. Play ETS2 for fun.:flammable: :fuelcan: :nogo: :stop::D:

If you play the Multi Player mod, the 6x4 option is the way to go, not for fuel, but to make you harder to tip over by the road pirates that try to overturn your truck :P but for single player without physics mod, nothing matters. :flammable:

I've noticed that 4x2 jackknifes easier than 6x2/6x4 if you brake and turn simultaneously when going downhill. Rear grip is better in latter. Of course trailer weight affects this aswell, as heavier trailer tends to push your truck more. One other difference you'll notice if you try pulling heavy load out of the quarry during rain. 4x2 and 6x2 will do better in that task than 6x4, as in 6x4 there's less weight per wheel (thus less grip).

What would be the best option if you are a pirate?

The number of vehicle axle number determines the vehicle running stability, but also for the turning radius of a certain loss. In the same way shaft less number of vehicle running in the process of stability on the performance is not very good, but for turning, turning performance is very good, each has advantages and disadvantages, see oneself like, if I or the use of the 5 axis of the front, or with the 2 axis of the front. Note: the vehicle running process mentioned above in the stability refers to the vehicle whether empty or hanging container, reaches a certain speed in turn or correct direction when straight have obvious differences

the 6X2 is a good investment, bigger tanks plus give you better turning. Only downside I've seen is that it makes the truck a little loose

This game likes to call itself a simulator. That would imply realism and thus regulations.
A 4x2 is allowed to pull upto ~25T, a 6x2 or 6x4 upto at least ~45T, in some countries or areas more than that.

Then again there is no load over 25T in ETS2, if I'm not mistaken.
At any rate axles are just for fun and diferent visual tuning options. While there is little to no diference in turning radius, it dosnt rly matter wich axel you use. And reduced fuel tank isn't a problem. You still can make it pretty far, besides tanking is extra gameplay, specialy on em across Europe hauls, siting ~2h at screen driving in cruise control.
Wish there would be more things that stop/engage you during hauls, at times it gets very dull hiting the highway, goin around city's, never encountering anything.

Try the seimens transformer mod. Weighs 93 tons.

Thats why I have volvo 750 8x4 with 18 speed gearbox. Definitely need the four up front as its a ♥♥♥♥♥ steering using 6x4 for heavy loads as I found out, and yes, I am using a physics mod.

This loco is about 72 tons I think.

believe i now have the 6x4 (the third one down in the upgrade list). Using a wheel controller, it handles IMMENSELY better. Was surprised how much of a difference it made. The truck goes where pointed much easier, all the way up until its limits, at which point you are up on 3 wheels and praying the truck lands on all 6 lol
