Euro Truck Simulator 2
Steering Wheel Recommendations?
Anybody know of any fairly cheap but decent steering wheels which run well with Euro Truck Simulator 2? Looking on www.amazon.co.uk and I have saw quite a few but I have no idea which one is good, cheap-ish and runs well with Euro Truck Sim 2.

i´d not recommend any Thrustmaster cheaper than the T100... the T100 is pretty solid though...

G27 isn't sensible money, it's the best you can get but the amount it costs isn't sensible at all.

Have you looked at the price of a "Fanatec RS" wheel lately or a "Thrustmaster T500" they are high-end wheels and are both considerably more expensive than a G27.
Logitech G27's are not the best you can get by any means but they are the lowest priced high-end wheel by a long way!

That proves that I'm completely out of the wheel game!
Never heard of those but for an average consumer I thought the G27 was good, having a big machine with hydraulics and a seat is a killer though.
anyone got experience with Saitek? the one they made primarily for FS15?

That could work?

Don't get me wrong, the G27 is an excellent wheel and I have one myself, they do seem expensive untill you look at the compareable competition. For the "average" consumer your thinking is completely sound and I agree 100% but yes a hydraulicly activated seat concept is very interesting, from the video's I've seen on YouTube they would seem more in tune with the WSBK or MotoGP games to be honest, for instance - you don't lean a car through a bend and likewise a car doesn't wheelie when you stick your foot in it! From the video's I've seen builder's mimick acceleration by tipping the seat right back and decelleration by tipping the seat right forward (a full-harness IS a must) and cornering by leaning the seat either right or left so not so realistic for a car game. It would however translate to a motorcycle game or a flight sim and a fairly simple program could make it mimick the suspension seat of a truck.
I apologise for the ramble, but very interesting conversation well done Josh :steamhappy:

I used to have a Saitek R4 wheel and it was a good wheel, just not built to last and after repair upon repair it just got worn out and that's the problem with all-plastic construction!

You are correct, it should work theoretically because if I can program my G27 for "Farm Simulator 15" you should be able to program your Saitek wheel for anything really.
Give it a go, you've got nothing to lose...
Hi,
I'm brand new to ETS2, but a long time flighttsim enthusiast. I've been using a CH Eclipse Yoke and Saitek Rudder Pedals to drive my truck.
The toe brakes on the pedals are fine as accelerator and brake, and I would want to keep them for both sims. The yoke is far too sensitive for truck driving and I'd like to buy a good wheel.

Must I buy a wheel and pedals as a set? Can I buy a wheel which will work well with my Saitek twin pedals? I want to buy a wheel which will give me satisfaction in ETS2 and no regrets. I also see wheels labelled PS3/PS4. I want one exclusively for my PC.

Thank You, Jim

Even the cheapest wheel is miles better then KB/mouse.
I second this.

I bought a Thrustmaster "Ferrari GT" wheel and pedals. There's much better hardware on the market, but it the price was good and it works just fine with ETS2, so I'm happy.
how did you get yours to set up correctly? mine starts acting crazy ! like turning the wheel makes the truck go on emergency brake or something
To anyone looking at this old thread, looking for a wheel. Before trying anything from Logitech particularly the force feedback wheels, don't waste your cash.
Search the web first for ets2 Logitech driving force wheel stopped working. It appears back in 2016 they stopped supporting it properly and gave out, and, still do an earlier version of the software in a poor attempt to fix the problems. It worked for a short while but as windows 10 was updated it gave up altogether. There are many threads about it on the web. People who still have older software installed are happy but it seems once it has failed it is almost impossible for any of the solutions to get it going again.

Win 10 sees it and will calibrate the wheel as it installs but Logitech won't see it so it fails on their calibration and puts a delightful little yellow triangle with ! mark telling you drivers need updating.

Updating with any of the solutions found on the web including Logitechs supposed forum help site just give you a massive dose of frustration and anger that they cannot be bothered to release a working software solution. It is not a relatively cheap wheel so don't waste your cash.

I use a Logitech Force GT and it's a pretty decent wheel for the price and works great with this game (plus, it's a 900° wheel). Don't expect the experience of a G27 or similar but it's definitely a worthy option for the 'casual' driver.
Same for me. Descent wheel. I've played on the much much more expensive wheels (not mine) and I honestly don't see the point of spending so much money. I'd rather put the bucks towards a VR head set. Force GT does what you need and has plenty of buttons and a sequential stick shift which I think is enough since all modern trucks are auto anyway. 900° is a nice feature as well.

I Ended up buying the G27 after Reading reviews and because it has all that i wanted, was also £269.00 for the Logitech UK Site which was the cheapest i could find it.
Bought my G27 on ebay second hand for £125.....came fully boxed and in perfect condition.
