Best use of skill points?
I'm sure this has been discussed, but I didn't see it in the first few pages of topics, so here goes... what should I spend my skill points on? Is there a must-have skill?

So far I unlocked the first level of hazardous cargo, and I'm thinking of spending my second point on the first level of valuable cargo.

My reasoning is that both of these single-point investments open up new job offers with new types of cargo, so if nothing else, they will add to my choices when taking a new job.

Long-distance and Eco both look useful, except I don't have the nerve yet for long trips (I deliberately take short ones) and (probably on a related note) I've never run low on fuel. Are those must-have skills for later?

Opinions appreciated!

I ran out of fuel in a IVECO,so I don't have that brand anymore. But I maxed out my distance first.
ADR first 3, then long distance first one, then expensive cargo first one, then fuel save first one , and then the rest. Most important is that you have ADR and at least one of each other skill, bcause of the variety of job offers depending what you have / re able to

ADRs and Long Distance are primary. Especially Long Distance, because you get one XP per km plus bonus XP for each km. I have the last 5 of the ADRs, not the first; I'll get it eventually as other skillsets are more valuable. Eco Driver (gas saver) will be last.

You can get the last ADRs without getting the first ones??

Hmm, I didn't realize that. I thought they went in order like the other skills. (That explains why there's no "+" and "-" next to that one...)

As far as the ADRs you can choose and pick which one comes before which. for me, ADRs and long distance first, the others come after. for my drivers, I make them get ADRs, then Long Distance, or vice versa, then I put them on 'balanced'. I've seen that that way the driver makes more profit.

Ah, your hired drivers level up and get skill points, too? Cool.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I highly recommend taking as much as you can in long distance and valuable cargo, the two together make a potent combination

Yeah! Wait till they get to 10.0 and the millions grow even while you roam. the Highest one of my drivers has pulled in (profit) so far in one trip is 17,000, and she did that at rating 6.7. and it wasn't even the extremes like Bratislava to Swansea. It was halfway.

I'd stay away from Ecodriving as it provides no useful benefit to make more money, but I go for Long Distance first because of the XP that'll allow you level up quicker as well as the money you'll make. Then go for High Value Cargo because when you combine it with Long Distance, you make quite a bit for money. Then go for ADR, Just in Time and once all those are maxed out, then go for Ecodriving.

Your suspicion about ecodriving is right, fuel costs are largely negligible even in the early game.

Long distance driving however is one of the most important skills to increase if you want to start making good money.

Don't the ADRs provide more job offers? I'd say since they're easy to get, get them quick especially for your drivers, and start them with long distance, that way, chances of them returning empty is reduced.

Many of the ADR jobs also have Fragile as a "hidden" bonus (you only see it after delivery). If you go for ADR points make sure to get a point early in Fragile as well. Fragile ADR jobs that are also long distance and important/urgent are absolute gold both in payment and experience.

I just thought of this idea, and I'm going to test it with my next set of drivers: Get the ADRs First, then others (except eco...) before long distance. The point is that you only get a skill point for each trip, so the shorter the trip the quicker you accumulate the skills. forget about the big money for now, and focus on the skills first. When they're all max except for LD and eco, I switch them to LD. Any thoughts?

I think the skill points are xp-based for the drivers too, so quicker trips might not mean quicker skillpoints. I certainly don't see them getting a skill point each trip.
