[Cheat] No traffic fines via Developer Console
This is a cheat, sort of. So don't ♥♥♥♥♥ about it being a cheat cuz hey, I've already said it is.

I'm old and my eyes aren't what they used to be. I have a hard time seeing the speed limit signs as I roar by at 90. Thus I've been getting a lot of tickets for speeding. Toss in some of the (rarer) traffic-jams that I have to run lights/shove my way through... I decided to cheat and turn off fines.

It's easy to do, and while it's a cheat YOU can decide how far you want to push the "cheat". You can absolutely still play "fair" by trying to maintain the speed limits and wait times for lights if you so desire (which is what I try to do). (I really just want a mod that shows the current speed limit for road section the truck is on)

1. Edit config.cfg, which is in your Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\ folder.
2. Edit this line: uset g_developer "1" (it's 0 (zero) by default)
3. In game, hit ~ (tilde), and type in: "uset g_police 0" (no quotes).
4. Done! State of g_police saves, so you need only do it once.

edit: err, to reverse it and reinstate fines: at #3 above just do "uset g_police 1".

And here's me about to suggest SCS should add demerit points for all those fines that limits intercity travel until you become a better citizen :)

Should probably make sure that g_console is set to "1", so you can actually use it ingame.

You know, if they ever make it so that you can see speed limits via the GPS this might actually be a cool idea. Kind of a hardcore/roguelike mode where too many tickets/crashes results in you losing everything.

...and fixing that damned car that pulls out in front of you from behind a bus/truck doing 40k (or worse, pulls out and brakes!) when you're doing 90 and YOU get the crash fine......

I suffer roadrage badly and run them off the road. Why, no idea, lol, they're immune to my emotions.....

Thanks for the information. I've finally given in and done this, after yet another speeding ticket when I had no clue that there was a speed limit in place - 30mph(!) in the tunnel just outside Aberdeen.

If they do that I'm getting banned from Great Britain and probably nearly every place else that's not Germany.

What an awful and just plain unfun idea.

Is there a list of console commands available?

It's actually really satisfying cutting a truck off (especially one that you've been stuck behind for ages) when there's another vehicle behind it. If you cut it close enough, you'll cause the truck to brake so quickly that the vehicle following it will slam into the back of the trailer.

Sweet.
If you are having problems not having console pop up as expected on Win 7, (due to 'tilde' keypress not working) it is because most likely your PC has Windows Media Center installed
and OR a MS infrared keyboard.
You can google the fix but short version is go into Device manager and remove anything
related to MS Infrared Keyboard.
It is installed if you have Media Center even though you dont have their keyboard.
Now your tilde key should work. Actually it is not tilde by the way, but grave' key. Tilde is the shifted function. Just saying.

Oh, forgot to add, for the heck of it.

In console if you set warp 0.8 then the in game perceived speed of movement.
This setting does not stick and has to be re-applied each game session.
Resets to 1.0 otherwise.

will be much closer to reality than the default, which is warp 1.0
At Warp 1.0 the default, the game perceived (from inside the cab) rate of travel is perhaps 25 percent faster than in real life.

I think it was a design decision. I prefer warp .8
I used a stopwatch to time teh white stripes in game and compared to real life stripes. It matches
at .8

You can also edit that line directly. Open documents, go to Euro Truck Simulator 2, Profiles, open your profile (usually a series of random numbers) and edit the config file. Set uset g_police "0" and save. Accidents, lane violations and speeding penalties are now turned off for that profile.

speed limit was added to GPS in 1.11 beta, I played it for a short time. I'm back on 1.10 for now though cause of more mods being compatible with it.

I played some ETS2 yesterday after not having played the game in 5 months or so. My Steam account is set to public beta so the game was updated to 1.11. The speed limit in the GPS was a nice addition though I still managed to rack up a few speeding tickets. The one downside is that I can't use ProMods or Hungary maps at the moment. I know I could roll back but I think 1.11 will be released soon and ProMods should be updated shortly thereafter. Probably a longer wait on Hungary.

I hope TSM gets updated cause thats what I use., I havn't tried the Hungary (never knew about that one) and havn't tried promods yet either, I will eventually though.
