Have my garage in a bad place.
I take it there's no way to sell a garage?

When i started i just chose to have my garage in a random place fairly central in the UK . Now i wish i had put it somewhere else , probably a port town.

Any advice on a good place to have your first garage? Does it make much difference?

I been considering starting again to choose a better spot . Think it worth it? does it make much diffrence? Just seem annoying its in a place i never visit. Does it affect the drivers you hire much?

I tend to like dirving from the UK to europe and back as being on the ferry takes care of fueling and resting.

Dont worry about it. It makes zero difference. Once you get your own truck you will never even see your garage again. You will always be taking the best job at the location you end up. You won't be travelling back to your garage again.

In the long run it makes very little difference where you put your first garage.

Except in the case where your first hired drivers MUST operate out of that garage.

Hired drivers always take jobs in the city that garage they are assigned to is in. They MUST return to that garage from wherever that job took them.

Therefore it helps to have garages located in cities with 4 or 5 job sites to increase the probability of the hired drivers getting good paying jobs. It helps to have garages more or less centrally located, drivers are then more likely to get jobs that are compatible with their skill set. Both of these factors are also important for return jobs, more job sites in their home city garage make it more likely that hired drivers will get a return job rather than returning empty. These factors are not only helpful for choosing the first garage, they're also important in selecting additional garages for future purchase.

So, when beginning the game and having only that one home garage for hired drivers, it is somewhat useful to have your home garage centrally located in a city with 4 or 5 job sites.

However, in the long run you will have bought other garages and will have assigned hired drivers to those other garages. You can also move trucks and drivers to any other garage you own. By that time your original garage will have no real impact on gameplay.

As the player driver you will not have need of nor ever use your first garage for anything important. The player home garage is used when there has been a game change and your player driver is reset, your player driver is placed there - that's a minor concern. The home garage is also used when the player swaps a truck with one of the hired drivers, the player is placed at that garage in the swapped truck - another minor concern.

thank you , i'll carry on and just buy a second garage. Is there a way to see how many job sites in a city or just experience?

My main garage in cambridge.Thinking of getting my second one in Amsterdam . I would have to manually drive there and look for garage to buy? do i need to worry about the locations size? or can they all be expanded?

unless anyone reccomends a better place.

Only real way to see how many job sites are in a city is to zoom in on them on the map and count the number of industry logos floating around their roads. Rmember also that some industries like quarries and farms appear outside the city limits, but they too count towards the number of industries that city has - the industry counts towards the nearest city, so if an industry is between two cities, look for the one it is closest to.

Most cities have four industries, as mentioned above, so any that have that number are a decent bet for garages. Just look out for any that have three or even two, try to avoid those. I have looked around the map myself and the only cities I have found with 6 industries are as follows:

Berlin
Gdansk
Milano
Salzburg

I may have missed one though, so let me know if you find another.

Hope that helps^^

Count the job sites using the world map zoomed in on a city. The company named sites are what you are looking for.

You must drive to a garage to buy it. You can upgrade a garage anywhere you happen to be from the Company Manager menu.

My most productive garages: Bratislava, Liverpool (both good for long distance driver skill), Berlin, Frankfurt, London (all 3 centrally located), Paris, Praha, Milano and oddly (rise to the top very quickly) Budapest in the DLC.

The most profitable jobs will be from companies offering ADR Hazardous cargo, this assuming that you or your drivers have an appropriate ADR skill. Not all cities have a job site that offers ADR cargo, so choose cities wisely at least at first.

{Yes. I know it's hard to tell at first what company offers what types of jobs. I look in the configuration files.}

I always look at the Freight Market at the city I'm currently in (even if just passing through on a job) and compare the job listings with other cities (from memory). When there are multiple pages of entries and many high paying jobs offered I then know that that city is one in which it would be good to own a garage.

BCP and WGCC are the ones that offer ADR cargo, and I think Trameri might perhaps offer one or two jobs like that too, but those are much more rare.

I hear nobody talking about OSLO.

I just checked the map and OSLO has 7....SEVEN....companies:

1) Skanska
2) MAXI
3) IKEA
4) POLAR
5) StatOil
6) Norks
7) Skandåsa

Wouldn't this be the most profitable city in ETS2?

Malmö has lots of companies as well

For what it's worth, it IS possible to sell garages. You have to move out all trucks & drivers first, so you will need another garage to move to, and you will need to relocate yourself to your new garage (same way you would relocate an AI driver). Once a garage is empty it will have the "sell" option where the "upgrade" option normally is.
