I also found one and nothing changed just like OP said, and I would like to know what is purpose of them.
'We've designed a new #ReturnToWinterland Desktop Background Theme, and you may notice an elusive blue gift box that pops up every now and then, providing a small clue about something extra that's in store for you. Since the weather in Winterland is a bit different this year, you might be asked to help rescue some gift packs that were lost in a past snowstorm. We trust that you'll rise to the challenge and answer the call for help! Who knows where it may take you in this magical land, perhaps to a place you've never visited before. When the time comes to help, you'll know—just follow the instructions from Winterland and be on your way! '
I have noticed 3 effects on game:
1) I am forced to drive to an obscure place on the map to collect Lost Cargo
2) All Teleports vanish Until I collect Lost cargo
3) a World Trucks banner flashes across top of the screen with sled filled with gifts upon collection of the Lost cargo
Have not noticed anything else. Am I missing something?
From what I seen so far, every time a gift cargo is took in one of the five Winterland's companies, there is a chance that their own Lost Gift will spawn on the map.
Christmas Market from Town Square (located at Mountain Resort)
Marigold from Chocolate Factory (located at Arts Workshop)
Northstar from Post Office (located inside small roads of Town Square)
Rudolph's Craft from Arts Workshop (located at south entrance of Town Square, as seen in the video)
Snowy Peaks from Mountain Resort (unknown location)
I also suspect the only purposes of these lost gifts are a) to keep one longer than needed in Winterland, and 2) to keep one longer than needed on this event. Surely are not sending me "to a place I have never visited before", because I discovered the whole Winterland last year already and it remained fully discovered.
Someone got all of them and can share more info?
i have done 8 round trips to/from Winterland, making a total of 16 deliveries. Every time I have attached the trailer for the outbound trip I have been asked to go pick-up a lost parcel. it is marked with a blue icon somewhere on the map. I go there, see the activation marker . "pick it up" and continue to a portal to the main map. to me these pickup are placed randomly here and there on the map.
The pop-up timeouts very quickly, I have never been able to read it. (I am a slow reader).
Then again the Christmas Event has been kinda boring since last year, we barely getting paid, we hauling extremely heavy cargo, and driving short distances.
I like the old Event way more, where we would chose our cargo and distance (with normal paychecks), and weren't constrained to a magical land, where even my Volvo with +700HP struggles to haul cargo.
If they do this magical land nonsense again next year, I'm done joining the Christmas Event, I'm just doing the 15 deliveries for the personal objective this year, then the rest of you are on your own for the community challenge.
It's a trucking game. If you don't want to do extra cargo, don't do it. Don't threaten us with the ''you're on your own next year'' because nobody cares honestly. Everybody is contributing to the community while doing their personal events. Now stop breaking down, just move on.
I have to tune the suspension to be able to reach 10 km/h on a Volvo with 780 HP (the new one), when going up the snow on the Christmas Map.
Still wish the developers would bring something new or even the old event for Christmas in the future, as I stated before I really don't like that this event is so restricted and unrealistic.
Would be even more fun if they made it snow across Europe (or even put up Christmas decorations and trees), like some Unofficial Servers and Mods do.
Thanks for trying to help though.
To turn off traction control worked for me (it is on by default) on a Volvo FH4 with 6x2 taglift chassis and most powerful engine. It was slowing down to 2 km/h on some hills : /
It hasn't been for me. A lot, ya, but not all.
