Test on a vanilla profile (no mods ever in it) or get rid of your mods.

Mods can be the quickest way to really mess up your game play. Be sure to thoroughly determine the mod is only doing what it advertised. I recently subscribed to one that blacked out portions of my game screen. Not cool beans!
