MP3's are way too loud.
Did anyone else encouter this issue, when I play an album of my choice it's way too loud and it's clipping (distorted) could it be because that particular album is 48 khz?

EDIT: I tried converting to 44.1 and it's still too loud, I mean this album's mastering is off the charts but it's not distorted in any other media player.

The album in question is Clubland X-Treme Hardcore 9 - Gammer's mix, I tried daft punk's discovery and it does sound a bit loud in certain parts (vocals/mids&highs), but it's not so bad that I have to turn off the radio.

I tried using the mp3 player however it refused to play almost everything in my library. So I just listen to the online radio now.
I guess if I want to listen to my music I'm better off using Winamp and "Global Hotkeys"

The radio stations are nice though, especially the ones in the netherlands but if I want I guess I can add a couple of DI.FM or PulsRadio stations myself.
This guide helps on normalizing / reducing volume of mp3's: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/20700/
But you are probably better off using an outside player instead for your mp3's, and the global hotkeys as you mention. Though the guide still applies, as the mp3's can still have different volumes :-)
Maiteria this is useless, I'm into audio engineering/production, I know what a compressor/limiter is, my mp3's are fine, those Freeform/Happy Hardcore compilations are re-mastered to near 0db, the problem lies in scs's audio player and I really don't want to touch those audio files, whenever you fix an mp3 it doesn't save as a direct stream it tends to re-encode them and you lose aome quality every time, I much prefer FLAC but oh well.

Daft Punk's album is fine except the vocals are way too loud, it sounds like there's a compressor/limiter built-in to ETS2, It's not even "Replay Gain" because Clubland X-treme hc 9 doesn't have replay gain embedded in the files.

I am playing with analog surround sound, I haven't tried down channeling to stereo yet and see if it's an issue with scs's surround.

I just wanted to know if this only happened to me, maybe I should try the Linux client, too bad the xbox 360 controller support sucks in Linux.

I mean thanks anyways for the tip if it helps other people then it's all good.

EDIT: yeah I tried to lower one track by 6db in sound forge and it plays loud but no distortion. I'm certainly NOT converting my library for one game...

Yeah sorry for trying to help then. There's nowhere you mentioned being into audio engineering or similar, so I just throw an idea out there. *shrugs* As for you saying you're not converting your library for one game - do as you yourself suggested, using Winamp with Global Hotkeys. :-)
