Repack scs file!?
Right, well, I got the extractor from scs' website and extracted base.scs to do some modding stuff. But, I can't see anything i've done in the game. So, do I have to repack (compress) the files back to the base.scs and if so how???

Use winrar and pack it as scs file or winzip, you have to pack back again. remember to set check your profile that is markt there too

NEVER repack the base.scs or def.scs files!

Put your modded files in separate folders named like the source folders keeping the source folder structure then zip them with STORE (none) compression. Name the result <some name here>.scs and put that file in your Mod folder.

So if you modded game_data.sii then you have a /def/ folder with only that file in it to be zipped.

I've modified the dash color of my new Volvo, it is one file and here is the resulting zipped archive:
Directory of ..\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod\dark_volvo_interior.3 10/30/2013 10:59 AM <DIR> vehicle Directory of ..\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod\dark_volvo_interior.3\vehicle 10/30/2013 10:59 AM <DIR> truck Directory of ..\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod\dark_volvo_interior.3\vehicle\truck 10/30/2013 10:59 AM <DIR> volvo_fh16_2012 Directory of ..\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod\dark_volvo_interior.3\vehicle\truck\volvo_fh16_2012 10/30/2013 10:59 AM <DIR> interior Directory of ..\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod\dark_volvo_interior.3\vehicle\truck\volvo_fh16_2012\interior 10/27/2013 01:40 PM 22,000 plastic_01.dds
You will see there are four folders and one file, the modified file is in the same folder structure as the original source. You can have any number of files and folders in a Mod. A good practice is to have separate Mods for separate functions or features, combining functions and features in a single Mod makes it difficult to maintain or change.

The top named folder for the def.scs file is "/def/", that folder name must be present in a Mod for any modded file from the source def.scs file.

The top names for the folders in the base.scs file are various, the top folder name is NOT "/base/".

Examine (unzip) any Mod to see it's folders and files to get an idea of how Mods are packaged.
