I just arrived at the same conclusion.
I just replaced all of the .dds files with my own using GIMP. I exported in DTX5 compression creating mipmaps.
Still didn't work though :(
Can you help me get it to work? I put so much energy into designing a nice design
in the right options when starting paint job packer not much can go wrong on that end.
I don't normally use Paint Job Packer, only reason I have it was to help someone once to
see if it has certain options or something,...and I certainly don't use Gimp so if the
problem is with that I have no clue, but I can walk you through the steps of PJP and what to change.
-start PJP
-click on "Next"
-Select your game and Next
-Select Single task (btw, the version I have is in Dutch so I can only guess what it says in English) and Continue
-Mod name: has to be unique, but can be anything you like
-version: leave as is
-Author: you
-Paint Job name: has to be unique, but anything you like, don't use capital letters.
-Price: at least 1
-Level: keep it at 0, or the checkbox on standard
-Internal name: has to be unique and less than 11 (or 12) characters, also no capitals.
-Cabines: I'd pick all
-Type: Trailer
-Vehicle: SCS Fuel tank
Generate and save.
Wherever you save it, you will find a folder named Paint Job Packer Output,
depending on your selections you will find one or several folders there.
Copy/past the one with the mod name to your mod folder and change
the .dds files, for the fuel tanker you should replace "Body (3 Axles)" for the long version
and "Body (2 Axles)" for the short version, if you don't have both of them just ignore the one you don't have.
the other files are optional, to your liking, they can be small 16x16 pixel files of the colour you want,
if you ignore those files those parts will be white.
It should indeed be DXT5 with mipmaps (auto generate), idk what other options you get with Gimp, but if you have the option: texture type: colour + Alpha, and no pre-compression.
That's all I know :-)
edit, as a side note, another option is to use Mods Studio 2, it kinda works similar, but they add your paint job to the files instead of place holders so you don't have to replace anything and can just copy the file it creates to your mod folder.
I finally got it to work thank you <3
