volvo engine sounds
A 750 hp Volvo (classic) was the first truck I bought once I had enough money to purchase my own truck, and it's the only truck I've driven in the 32 levels since. I really like how it looks and handles.

However, with the recent bug where the transmission doesn't shift properly, I decided maybe I should put it "in the shop" for repairs until the next patch comes out. So, I bought a new MAN and put a 680 hp engine in it.

Let me say, holy cow! I love how this thing sounds! I'd think about driving the MAN full-time, but the FoV in cab view kind of disorients me -- it feels too zoomed in.

But, this makes me wonder if there is a problem with the sounds for the Volvo. Surely a larger engine shouldn't sound so much quieter?

I like the sound of my volvo. Stick some straight pipes on your truck if you want it louder :)

Do the exhausts really change how your truck sounds? I've never been able to use them because my truck is 6x4.

No they do not.The stock engines sounds are average at best there is a guy who mkaes excellent mods for the sounds he does a Scania V8 as well as stright piped Volvo,MAN trust me his sounds are much better. What I'll never understand is that SCS did sound recordings but the sounds are way off. A simple Youtube search will show you that the Volvo FH16 does not have that silent of a cabin.

Stright pipe sounds for Volvo,MAN,Scania(none V8) and Renult http://ets2.lt/en/all-volvo-fh-scania-renault-man-open-pipe-sound/

Oh, man! That mod is amazing! I installed it and started using it, and I love it! It makes my sub rattle my drink glass :) but made my wife complain. :(

I've made some recordings of myself at work for friends on Facebook. The recordings never sound the way it is when your driving. Thanks for the imfo by the way cheers.

Quick, easy way to make the internal engine sounds louder for all trucks:

Add the line:

uset s_interior_volume "x.x"

to your profile configuration file.

For Windows the file is located at:

<startup device>:/users/<username>/Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/profiles/<profileID>config.cfg

Suggested value for x.x - start with 1.5 and work up/down from there.

Part of the problem is that they can only have a limited set of recordings which they then have to mix for all trucks available in the game. Recording gets expensive and time consuming and there's a lot of engines across all the trucks in the game. The great thing is SCS aren't static in this regard, RE the recent recording session & update for the Iveco trucks.

I agree the internal sound mixing is way low, OTOH they did expose the internal volume mixing scalar to the profile configuration file so it can be adjusted.

Hmmm; i think for Scania. The standing pipes + open sound is a must!!! SCS could think it about. Allot of Scania-drivers have is and it gives goosebumps ( for me so). I looked for diffrent mods, but non of them is not so great. But maybe in the future?? I hope so. Greetz.
