What happened to the Scania longnose?
As recently as 2004, the Scania 164L was, (or was available as), a longnose. OK, not as long as a K-whomper, but still. You can see pics here, just scroll down from the military thing at top -

But when you look up the 164L on google or whatever, you just see more boring cabovers. Did Scania discontinue that longnose version?

Greets back at you from California, Philip :)

To be honest, my driving skills in this game are rather poor, and I'm sure the cabover design keeps me from hitting things as often. But I just saw those pictures and thought it looked so cute.

So, I guess the answer to my question is that Scania has indeed abandoned that longnose design? I can see why, just as I can see why they put the sleeper on top rather than behind the cab, where it is found on US trucks. I suppose both have to do with keeping vehicle length as short as possible, in order to negotiate relatively-narrower European roads/streets.

The reason for COE over Conventials is because trucks are first classified by length(why there are no "trains" either) Where is in NA it is classified by weight per axle so length isn't a factor and Conventionals are common

This is from a Canadian in Norway who's Dad drove for a living ;)
Yes,we have the european regulations to,not so for the length. But verry strong-emissions rules. The COE see we allot here in our eurozone, but for me? Nose-cabs are verry welcome here!!!!!!!! I think there can realy give pretty creations for on our roads.

Tell me about tough emissions rules; I'm from California, remember? You know, the reason why all vehicles sold in the USA come in two different versions, a "California version" and a "49 States Version". There is in fact considerable low-level resentment here over the fact that semi-trucks are exempt from most of our enhanced air pollution rules, due to massive political lobbying by the trucking industry. We all pay a horrible premium to operate our cars here in California, (e.g. a new catalytic converter for my Mazda MX-5 cost me $900 last year, arguably more than the whole car is worth), but the trucking industry gets a free pass, and the carbon emissions from their diesel engines are significant.
