I have 16 Gb and have never run out of memory, even with programs running in the background.
I also have 16 GiB of RAM and so far I've never run out, but the maximum time I've played continuously since the update was 2 hours.
At a first glance, it looks like a memory leak, but more information is needed.
I do.
I don't want to be repetitive but the game worked perfectly till the last update, the only change on this pc from yesterday to today.
I've just played for about 50 minutes with riva tuner to check cpu and ram usage. Problem appeared after 10 minutes (usage ram from approximately 8300mb to 9300mb), the game reduced to windowed mode. I ran task manager, i kept playing in full screen without touching anything, even the windows error message. Usage ram was at 8600mb; after 40 minutes it was at 9000mb, without any warning message, but I didn't take another risk so I decided to exit the game.
Maybe you have to "Restart" your PC, especially if you let it running 24/7 for weeks or so. Just "Shutdown" won't always clearing allocated memory especially if you activate fast startup mode. Running out of physical RAM is a serious situation under normal usages. It could be software problem (memory leaks) or hardware problem (RAM defect). Consider to run RAM tests through benchmark software etc.,
Here's what I've just tryed:
* Turned off steam cloud and overlay vr from steam settings
* Start the game
* Playing in windowed mode for about 20 minutes. No issues. Usage ram went from 6020mb to 7580mb according to what showed riva tuner.
* From ingame I switch to full screen mode. Still no issues. Usage ram ranged from 7550mb to 7850. Played for other 40 minutes, no issues.
Every now and then I've also checked performance monitoring in windows. Allocated memory was about 90% and Used physical memory 45%.
The differences from yesterday are two:
1) Usage ram increased constantly without decreasing
2) Alloacted memory was 100%
As Wolfgang says, 16GB were more than enough until yesterday; I didn't have a single problem in more than 2 years with this configuration with every setting to high or ultra.
With a memory pool size almost as much as total RAM there are no room there for other things, not even Windows itself. There will be a lot of swapping to disk.
That said, For most players it is best to leave these parameters alone and stick to default. But maybe you have a reason to have the values you have, I don't know.
Also your readouts "RivaTuner" can be some...
It's just like the game don't recognize anymore the available memory at its disposal.
Today I'm going to post my problem on scs forum hoping to solve it.
If you post in the ETS2/Tech problems Max might see the post and be able to give some insight.
