Mods cause dlc unlock

My kids have been messing around with mods and suddenly I've noticed all dlc is unlocked and installed! I don't want to get in trouble with steam. Does anybody know how to revert this please. Idk how this is even possible?

DLC's doesnt unlock by mods. Sounds like they bought the DLC's...Check your email for recent purchases on Steam.

Fair point - didnt think of that.

And not saying the kids were intentionally being pirates. There are TONS of mod sites and the pirated content is out there. They could have simply found it on one of those sites and thought, "Awesome!", and installed it. ;)

The last purchase was iberia, yesterday which I bought for him. If I delete the game and reinstall will it save my progress?

I don't know where he would download pirated content, he's only 10.

No need to re-install the game, just delete the mod(s) containing the pirated content.

And like I said, there are tons of places from which to download mods, and sadly some folks are distributing paid content labeled as "mods".

I've had a look in the game folders but can't see anything unusual. I don't even know where to start. I think I should just delete the game to be on the safe side.

Can I copy the steam profiles and restore them once the game is re installed?

Deleting the game won't remove the mods, they're stored in different locations.

You want to be looking in this directory (assuming Windows default installation):

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod\

The mod folder was empty. I deleted both game folders and run a malware scan and reinstalled the game. All back to normal now.

I've got £1000s invested in steam. If I got my account deleted for piracy for the sake of £70 worth of dlc that would be damn.

Nah it's fact. Steam isn't magically scanning your disk. Only multiplayer games with anti-cheat can detect incorrect file structure but whatever
