Mods?
Hi People
Just turned the big 60 and took up gaming, ets2 being my first game. Have racked up 300hrs approx. My question is, what mods do you use to add a bit more realism to the game? I have seen cars, coaches in many YouTube vids which are driveable. Have looked through the workshop but not sure which to subscribe to. Help an old man out guys! Thank you.

There are tons of mods available in the workshop that will add "realism". It depends on how far you want to go. The potential for problems with outdated mods is always present. Some people spend a lot of time "fixing and changing" mods as they become obsolete.

I personally used to be a "mod hound" when I first started playing, but have since went back to a Vanilla profile so I never worry about my game breaking due to updates etc. That said..I have a secondary profile I keep to test out and experiment with mods. and have found a couple that add realism with out issues (so far).

Try these out if you like...IMHO they add quite a bit of realism...especially the Icons being replaced and you wont see those huge green icons everywhere such as fuel stops and drop-off/pickup points.

Remember to test those mods on a new profile so you can keep your main profile clean.

Personally, I would avoid Car and Bus mods, as the game does not have any Physics engine for Cars (cars still handle like a big truck), and many of the Car and Bus mods are not kept up to date or "maintained" very well.

Adding to this and what was already posted before, there are some cars out of Workshop that have a "compatible" physics (haven't tested any bus though) if you want to enjoy the maps on a smaller vehicle.

I wouldn't just recommend using them unless you learn to deal with mods first though. Like _KC76_ said, some of them aren't "maintained" well - this also means some aren't updated as quickly as the game. So if the game is updated, but the vehicle mod isn't updated (it can be a truck too), and you saved your profile while still inside it, this may render your profile corrupt.

If you want to use them anyway, I recommend you to switch to a vanilla truck before saving. And when the game is updated, don't switch back to this mod vehicle before it's also updated.

Hi
I am an old fart too and have racked up many enjoyable hours on both ETS2 and ATS.

I have created a new profile called ETS2 Bus.
If you are interested in going the bus way, have a look at this video

I have installed the passenger mod and the Mecedes bus from his link.
Compared to Fernbus this is brilliant.

But as with most mods, they are only good until the next game update.
V1.50 is due anytime now.

Going by the comments so far, I'll leave it for the mo. The game itself is enjoyable and quite addictive. See whats new in the coming update. Many thx!!
